I know Scotts view on these are crap, but i have so much cleaning work on my family's cars coming up,and can't justify £150 on the proper ones
Are the £30 odd ones of ebay any good at all?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silverline-Car-Boat-Polisher-Sander-Buffer_W0QQitemZ150118864064QQihZ005QQcategoryZ295 28QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Thanks.Paul

Absolutely shite.... Silverline is the worst of the worst rotary...

If I had a spare rotary / pc then I would lend you mine.

Dont forget you will need backing plate / pads for that as well that will bump it up another £50-£60...

May i ask why you think its the worst.

May i ask why you think its the worst.

Its the cheapest form of rotary for starters... no soft start ... no speed regulation... I could go on..

At best you will cause holograms / buffer marks with it... at worst burn through your paintwork

Consider how much a paintjob costs... then consider if its worth the risk of using said machine in in-experienced hands...

Paul - hold out for a 2nd hand PC 7424... do you want me to find you one?

Scott

Cheers Scott, there must be something inbetween for the average ametuer like myself though? i suppose i could go to about £80 with all the pads etc?

No I recommend a Makita / Metabo rotary if you can use a rotary :p

Else use a PC 7424

i must say it really is a cracking site and the forum is full of people that either really really love their car (not in a creepy "exhaust love" kinda way), have waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to much time to clean their car or do it for a living, and such regular joes like me can look there and think wow i wish i could be arsed to really go to town but eh a quick wash, polish and wax will do

Most you will find are amateur detailers who enjoy it as a hobby :)

The rest are people who do it for a living :)
