Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations before I even start looking..

Only real reason is something I can tow my boat with, fill with junk, not worry about anyone wanting to pinch it!

Diesel preferable, and auto ideally..

What can people suggest/recommend/ tell me to avoid?!

306 td's seem like pretty good cars tbh.. depends on the size of your boat!

I'd go with the 306 TD also... either estate / hatchback...

Cheap to buy, cheap to insure, cheap to fix and cost pennies to run...

Mine gets hammered to within an inch of its life and has done 20k miles in the last 10months ... it never complains :D

Vauxhall Omega. Heavy enough to tow with, plus they're cheap and almost indestructible.

Sorry mark, Maybe £4/5k

Omega - hmm had a 3.0l V6 Elite, and it was made of chocolate! Slightest bit of pushing it, and I'd have to go direct to the vaux parts place before going home!

I'm using a Subaru Legacy estate as my work vehicle at the moment. Plenty of space, power, and it also handles surprisingly well, you can actually drift round hairpins in the wet without drama.

I regularly tow a ton and a half and you'ld never guess it was there.

The only downside is the 27mpg average, but I suppose I could get 34mpg out of it if I stuck to the speed limit.:)

Hmm Bubble was selling one, and that caught my eye!

If the Omega TD is the BMW engine, then I may look at that!

Ideally if I could find one, id love an E39 BMW 530D Touring, but they really seem to hold their value..

Passat TDi Estate.

Great build quality, you'll get a fairly new opne for that money, the sports suspension option is a great drive, a really under rated car.

I like the 306, but this is miles better.
