Bren,
I hope this is the right place for this post. If not, feel free to move it.
I've seen 3 threads lately with loads of people asking for braided brake lines that have a proper fixing arrangement to attach them to the shock.
I'd be prepared to pay a little bit more for a set that fitted properly and removed the need for cable-ties/worries come MOT time.
Any chance of getting some made up ?
I'd want a set for an S13 4-pot arrangement.
Jonny.
No problem, Ill get some sorted :)

Cool. I'll wait with baited breath.
I'd be interested in these as well to suit S13 > S14 caliper :)
me too, if I cant find any second hand...

You won't find s/hand braided hoses that attach to the shock
That's why I'm asking for them to be "developed". :smash:
be interested in some for s14a with gtst calipers :)
It would be great if they could be retro-fitted to those of us with braided hoses already - without having to remove and refit the hoses.
I was thinking something like a P clip that fitted the now-empty hard pipe hole on the strut.
I designed and ordered some prototypes today :)

I'm currently running standard s13 calipers with braided hoses and have an s14a caliper setup (with Apex conversion hoses) about ready to go on. If you need some testing doing on any of these permutations, drop me a PM.
The strut fitting is fixed solidly to the line, they cant be retro fitted

Anything that wasn't would allow the braided hose to rub up and down inside the fastener and that wouldn't be good.
You could sort some kind of shaped split rubber grommit that could be retro fitted but I dont know where to source them from so as it stands I can only look at offering complete new hoses with the correct fitting preinstalled.
Nice one bren, definately up for a set of these.
Saves me converting my S14 Goodridges to suit.
needing anybody to test an s13 to s14 4 pot conversion set? If not any idea how long before these are ready? i.e. before JAE? :)
Cheers
Theyve been ordered but havent come through yet

I've just started ripping my suspension to pieces to fit ARBs, coilovers and alignment kit so I won't be ready for the brakes for a couple of weeks anyway.
Would be nice to have the hoses on for JAE but it wouldn't be the end of the world if it doesn't happen. I've got the conversion hoses I bought. I can use those.
hi there just look throw thread. i av had problems getting car throw test with the braded lines on......any news on these gromit's??:sxoc:

You might want to re-read the thread. See below...

The mid line fitting is on back order, Goodridge has run out but Im afraid we dont have a due date, the fttings are now overdue to Goodridge but Goodridge are rammed with back orders so everythings a little vaugue at the moment :(

My suspension upgrade isn't moving as quickly as I'd hoped so I'm not going to be fitting the 4-pots until after JAE anyway.
I'm still hoping to get it to JAE with the coilovers, ARBs and alignment kit but without finishing the derusting, repainting and undersealing side of things. Even then it relies on me getting a good run at it from Saturday and the alignment centre fitting me in before the following weekend :(
Any news on these Bren? I'll be wanting a set to suit S13 > S14 caliper as soon as they are ready

He posted yesterday. How up to date do you need to be :wack: ;)

Oops, how did I miss that :wack:
Sorry Bren!!
The prototype lines are here but Goodridge have fitted the centre fittings back to front

Still, good progress all the same :)

That's a shame. Is that a conversion hose then ? i.e. 4-pot on an S13.
We already do the conversion hoses (http://82.110.105.84/apexperformance.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=120_130_132_271&products_id=618&PHPSESSID=7b7e372b4c93d7cd50784f989cddc636), these are just the next generation with strut attachment :)

I know. I've got a set sitting in my garage. :indiff:
I was just wondering if the prototype was a conversion hose or a regular s13 hose. It's not that easy to tell on my screen. Are you planning to do both types ? I imagine there will be a market for both. Personally, I need the conversion hose as I have 4-pots going on after I've finished the suspension mods.

If this is just the conversion hose with an extra attachment, then I have a couple of other suggestions.
It would be good if the end that connects to the caliper had a shorter thread so that the connector screws up tight to the copper washer.
It would also be better if the hose length was shorter than the old style ones as there is a lot of excess line flapping around. I could measure how much shorter it could be if you like.

Its a conversion hose, all regular hoses use the original fittings anyway.
The coppe washer isnt needed to seal so we can just leave them off the hoses completely.
We have shortened these prototypes a little to take out some slack

You could leave the copper washer off the caliper connector on the conversion hoses. It just looks wrong. Is there any reason why you wouldn't want to fit a shorter connector though ?
The fitting seals on its end, if you shorten the fitting then it wont seal

Ah, yes. I didn't think of that. :o Better too long than too short then.
Is the price likely to be the same as your current conversion hoses Bren?
Theyre going to be more expensive as the fittings come at a cost. Thats why we havent bothered with the fittings to date but if theres demand and people want them then we will get them made :)
Ok, Ive offered the lines up and theyll be absolutely fine. The fittings on the sample are back to front but that obviously wont happen again. These lines will fit on any car fitted with our coilovers though (the brackets on our struts arent 'handed') so if some one wants them for £29 then give us a shout.

I'll take a set of production ones please. Fronts only. Any idea on price yet ?
I'm guessing we order through the regular process. What are you going to call them to differentiate them from the old-style conversion hoses ?
any pics of these bren.. i have teins super street s14a, will they fit?

If you have a 14a then you'll have a hard pipe from the caliper to the strut and you just need standard s14 braided hoses to run from the arch to the strut...or did I miss something ?

These are a full length hose, arch to caliper in 1 hose, with a fixing for the strut-support.

I know, I asked Bren to make them :p
But... he can just buy the regular shorter (cheaper) hose (that Apex have been selling for ages) that runs from the arch to the strut unless there is anything wrong with the hard pipe that runs from the strut to the caliper on his S14a. ;)
How did the fitting of these go? Is it something thats going to be stocked?
I'm looking at going 5 stud and doing an s14 caliper upgrade over the next few months so these would be great!
They are in stock now
They are stocked in addition to the full length arch-strut-caliper hoses we have always sold (badged as S13 conversion hoses, but suitable for S14's too) and in addition to the short S14 hoses, that as you say only need to be half legnth.
I would advise these are the best soltion for S14 or S13 though  if a little more expensive than the regular hose.

I think mine are at the Post Office right now after they tried to deliver when I was out.:(
It won't be getting fitted for a couple of weeks though anyway but I will report back on here once I've got them on.
We have had 35 sets come through and Goodridge have screwed up each and every single hose. Theyve done exactly the same thing as with the sample, theyve fitted the strut fitting the wrong way round. :annoyed:
Theyve all going back and Goodridge have to start again.

I'd like a pair of these when you get them returned re-made and with fittings the right way round this time.....
Any time estimate for when Goodridge will pull finger out of orifice and get them back to you ?
And is the price quoted higher in the thread just for a pair of front lines, no rears, or does it come with rears ?
Either way is there an equivalent pair of rears for fitting a Z32 rear caliper to an S13 ?
Cheers.

Having just had to shell out for MOT bits yesterday (pass !!!!! Yay !!!!!) I will have to do a bit of saving up first, but would be obliged if a pair were put on the side ready for me when I have the dosh !
In passing is there an equivalent pair available or in the lines to fit Z32 rear calipers to an S13 ? Or do the original spec lines work OK on them ?
Cheers
I cant store goods without a minimum of a deposit, we have been let down more times than I care to remember over the years with people saying they want something and then not ordering the goods :(
We also do rear caliper conversion lines (http://82.110.105.84/apexperformance.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=&products_id=1319&PHPSESSID=f938f98f8b06c54e282941f47dafc264) :)

And.... after six months off the road I'm back in the game !
But I can't find these brake lines with the strut clip thingy on the Apex site.... just the S14/ S13 conversion ones with no reference to the clippy bit.
Have you sold them all or is there a pair lurking somewhere I can save up for and plank down the readies shortly after payday on the 23rd..... ?
Plus need the rear lines;
So can you quote me for all four lines, S13 to fit Z32 alloy front calipers and Z32 twin pot rear calipers; preferably with the strut clip thingy on the front lines.... Oh, and postage.
Cheers !

Theyre the Type 2 hoses, theyre in the S13 section now :)

Thanks matey, will have my order in just as soon as payday has rolled up and some dosh in the account..... aside from any more unforseen problems like the other half's need to have a new 'zorst for the Merc :wack:
Mind you, she did only hit the speedbump that hard because the boot was full of beer ! Ah, sweet girl.... knows what a man needs. Just that after paying for the 'zorst each supposedly cheap bottle works out at about a fiver a swallow now !
Cheers and thanks for the speedy response. Get out and get some rays away from the 'puter while its going ! Remember last summer.... 'twas just as sunny back then in May. For two whole days. And I missed it ! :annoyed:
PS. Weird thing, may be old cookies or book marks or something, but when I access your site direct via my linky I get pages that don't show the mark 2 bit etc your link above shows, distinctly weird.

Go to the page using your link then hit "refresh".
If the page changes then change your settings within "Tools" + "Internet Options" to "always refresh pages" (or something like that). The set up I have here at work stops me being able to check the exact wording :(
Its because I hadnt put the lines in the S13 section until you asked, at which point I realised the mistake and added it ;)

Phew. I can stop chasing security settings, registry defaults and old cookies then......
Instead concentrate on earning enough dosh to finally afford to get these lines and the calipers fitted ! See you friday week after payday....
Any chance of returning non-used S14 braided hoses for some of these with the strut fitting?

Any chance you can sell these in singles? (S14a front NS) If so how much would one be delivered - I only need to replace one side you see. Ta
