10 grand on a car no bigger or better looking than a wheelie bin, i can understand the bird with the street ka as that didnt look to bad except for the gash colour except the costs dont add up building it, and that corsa, i mean for fcuks sake, 20 grand on an l reg corsa, why not spend it on the focus rs that she drives and have a really quick car, not some old shopping cart, when you see these shitters at shows now they are all the same, the only thing thats individual about them is the ridiculous amount of cash spent on them to make them look even more barry than the last one they had.

200SX owners are no better than Corsa owners when it comes to wasting money on shite. I know, i've got a car covered in it. This elitism is really starting to bug me - as far as any non-200 owner is concerned, there's little difference between a Corsa with a massive exhaust and decals and a "Drift spec" 200.
Apart from the paintwork on the Corsa will be better.

Ask JollyF or Richie? Lots of people on here spend silly amounts of money they can't afford on modding their 13 year old Datsuns. You really don't mod a car to sell.
I saw it was really a silly drain and stopped. Apart from the Roll Bar, I've changed worn out bits and that's all it's going to be.

I guess the key difference is that an awful lot of money spent on 200s goes on performance and handling rather than paint and ICE - so there's a natural difference in emphasis.
I don't understand spending £20k on a Smart bolting subwoofers through the floor, but I do understand 96bhp in a Smart - that bit was :cool:

Haha, the power increase was nice, but hes probably doubled the weight of the car in ICE!!!
I agree though; its all about whos spent the most cash on their car :annoyed:

I think I read a test in a car magazine recently where a standard Cayman beat some big power Monaro (I think it was a modded VXR) around a track. It may also have beaten a 500bhp FD3 RX7 in the same test (but I'm not so sure about that). I can't think of many dynamically better cars than the German Uberwagens in fact, so I think she shot herself in the foot a bit there (although I guess she meant in acceleration terms, where I suspect she would still be wrong :wack: )
Some people modify for aesthetics, some people modify for performance :indiff:
The fact that I've stripped everything out of my car in order to make it go as fast as possible is no better/worse than someone adding in a load of ICE in order to make it sound better :D

Well, people are quite happy to spend thousands on a home system, to listen to music for an hour a day ....... only seems right to have a good system in your car if you spend 2 hours a day driving it.
I listen to the radio, ipod and cd's more in the car than anywhere else, yet it is the cheapest by far than my house systems :wack:

when someone says they have a good quality sound system in their car, you'd expect something you'd hear from a bmw 7 series, merc S class etc.
loud isnt neccecarely good you know:no:
But a house system you can take with you to your next house.
You can take these "builds" from car to car without
a) taking it apart
b) leaving the car in a far from saleable state without alot of work.

Most ICE installs have fcuk-all to do with wanting quality hi-fi sound, and everything to do with how many inappropriatly placed speakers you can cram into your boot.
For starters, the first thing to do to get quality sounds would be to fit a quiet exhaust. A motorbike silencer on a 1.2 Corsa does not qualify.
I suspect the show vs. go argument applies more to ICE than it does to engine tuning.
