As a support engineer, a machine without a windows OS is about as useful as a one legged man in an @rse-kicking contest.

BUT as a machine for anything other than games or technical support, I have nothing against macs - in fact, if I could have any laptop in the world, I would have this one - http://www.apple.com/powerbook/index17.html

I am a PC person, but have nothing against Macs and actually quite like them. We've had a G4 in work recently that I've been playing with and quite like. A PC-only bod would find it a bit odd using a Mac for the first time though I reckon. The G4 I've been playing with is running OS9.something and to be honest, it's pretty logical and uncluttered (unlike Windows). I've fiddled with a fair few OS's over the years including AmigaOS, BeOS and Linux and the thing that struck me about the OS on the G4 that I didn't expect was that it reminded me of Workbench on the Amiga. A few simple menus on the top of the screen and easy access to the volumes from the desktop. Quite nice to use and made a refreshing change from Windows. So what's OS X like then? :D

Im a Win 2000 server administrator and I like come home to my good old mac cos I find windows quite boring to use, especially compared to the mighty OS X.

Not that I'm dissin Bill Gate cos the guy keeps me in a job :D

Ello All.

Brammers from the Saxo Sports Club here..... just thought I'd have a wander around some other car related sites (theres only SO many Saxo's I can put with looking at !!!! Hehehe).

Couldn't help but notice this topic as I am an Apple Networks and System Administrator for a living. Yes, I admit - I'm a Mac man. I use a PC at home though, as I'm an avid gamer - but Macs are my bread and butter.

In my opinion OS X is fantastic. Stable as hell, and easy to use, yet tremendously powerful if you need it to be. I've had about 15 or so intensive applications open at once, all performing benchmark type tests on a G4 with 512Mb of memory, and yeah - it was a little bit slow, but nothing fell over !

If you need something reliable - then Macs are the way to go, and the software is all catching up too, in fact - overtaking in some cases ! Even MS products !

Anyway - please don't slate me cos I drive a Saxo (well, I don't actually - I'm selling mine !).

Feel free to come check out our forum - www.saxosportsclub.com/forum - sure, we have our share of muppets, but all in all it's a friendly place !

Take care all !

OSX rocks my world... Macs were just pretty thigns before they developed OSX.

And what wonderful operating system was it built on ?

Macs for work (well, I CALL it work, hehehe) and PC's at home to run my web and FTP servers, and to play games on. Err thats about it really...........

i used to work for Apple, so i know my stuff, and OS X rocks. OS 9 was a step in the right direction, but anything before that was a pile.

Cunningly enough, I am also a Win2K Server Admin. Though I am quite partial to Linux myself :D Though as you say, Billy boy does keep us in work :D :D :D
