does anyone know about remaping or who's good ot go to for remapping a Focus ST.

my Step Dad has bought one but now thinks its too slow and wants some more ponies from under the bonnet, but doent want ot start change the turbo, injectors etc till they pack up,

he also wants a switchable map so one map for fuel saving and one for loosing your licence

I know its a Volvo engine with a Ford ECU IIRC

any help

Mark? Jez?

Also on this same topic a mates got one, he's already fitted the induction kit which really helps keep the boost up but he's after an exhaust now,

anyone know which are recommended, apparently the mongoose thats popular regularly see's power drops over the standard one?

ive had a look at bluefin and im not impressed, their map for the first setp they claim is 46bhp, but the graph shows an increase from 222bhp to 256 bhp, thats a 36bhp increase,

IMo its all down to apearance and professionalism, if they cant get their Advertising material correct how good are their products?

i know alot of Ford people are loving their product but there have been problems with the installation of the software, and you have ot buy new maps if you upgrade.

Pumabuild have worked with Dream Science and re-written the ford map and can give similar gains in a similar way but for £100 less and you get all the maps for free, so if we decide to upgrade the intercooler etc we dont have ot pay £50 for a new map. and the Dream Science is totally untraceable as it uses the same file name as the ford map. plus pumabuild have a ST that they test on.

http://www.pumabuild.co.uk/mods_focus_st.htm

ive got to phone Pumabuild back as the Programmer is not in till 3 today cos i want ot know more about the maps etc

not bad infor for 15mins googling

but i still cant find an in cockpit on the fly selectable map solution, thats what he really wants

yep, but its under warrenty by ford so changing the Turbo will invalidate that, but a map can be "hidden" easily

It doesn't say peak hp is up 46, it (correctly) states 46hp increase at 6311rpm

Nothing wrong with the claim/graph...

and you don't get a drop off so higher revs will be more useable

Got a graph for the pumabuild map?

Didn't Graham Goode (sp) do a lot of work on these when they came out?

so why does it say max 256bhp then on the bluefin graph?

Because thats the max power it acheives although it holds it longer and doesnt tail off like the standard car. Therefore at the RPM they state you actually get a 46bhp increase as the standard car has dropped power ;)

its clever marketing

i can see what you are saying, but what do you mean,

Mark

This is the official power/torque curve

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=45323&stc=1&d=1178285634

I reckon the bluefin one isnt 100% accurate in order to make their product look better ;) that or they used a crap car for their testing.

The torque curve is like that because it had to be limited to stop the gearboxes blowing up, so any chips that unlock they full torque potential of the engine might start eating transmissions :wack:

Monkey

So your saying the bluefin one "may" not be accurate gain as the base line from a un mapped car may not be a ture representation of a actual curve, to make their software look better than it is, but it is "safer" to the car

and the dreamscience one "could" potential dramatically shorten the lfe of the gearbox/engine as they have pused the maximum to the maximum potential of the engine, further than Bluefin.

the dreamscience one has 4 settings that is the highest setting on that graph, using a stanard car (no other engine mods) like wise for the bluefin

they do have lower settings

Tune 1. PERFORMANCE 255bhp and 285lbft

Tune 2. PERFORMANCE PLUS 260bhp and 295lbft

Tune 3. RACE 265bhp and 310lbft

Tune 4. RACE PLUS 270bhp and 330lbft

Tune 5. Stock

the one in the graph is Tune 4, so tune 3 would/colud be a "safer/more reliable" map

Mark

Standard Torque is 236lb/ft so the top setting gives you nearly 100 more torques

This may last 10k miles or even 50k miles (Fords aim is 100k's+) or it could do 100 miles and explode :wack: I have no idea, but i would guess the Clutch wouldnt last long either

there focus rs is running 500+bhp and tey are now working on a st.

This will be the focus ST (and the RS was the same) that evo, autocar and others have expressed  at about how some feel faster and more powerful than others.

Hmm.
anyway there is a review of bluefin in the new performance tuner mag this month, basically says the same thing... they think its gods gift ect...

 They do, even the exhaust note is different, my mates pops and bangs when letting off the throttle but alot of others don't
