View Full Version : Evo VIII?
Anyone else think it's dull? I love the VI and VII but what have they done?? What ever happened to the big rally lights, and rally-esque bodywork - its gradually turning into a rep-mobile.

The dash wouldn't look out of place in a Transit van. :(
Nice seats though.

The rear looks like a 406.

Changed it, forgot I could do that
Maybe a fourth one, like 'I am not old enough yet!'
Si :)
Saw some pictures in Autocar and I thought it looked great (Not really that different from the VII)
I gotta be honest the VII took a while to grow on me as I thought the styling was a bit tame at first, but then I think that's one of the high points of the SX. It's quite subdued until you open it up. IMHO
Alg;)
looks good in black maybe because you cant see nought:p, looks stupid in yellow and that crap blue/purple. IMHO the version 3+5 looks the best........
who coped who???? the early SUBS and EVO's look very similar so which was out first???
Think it looks like a renault from the front and a peugeot/citroen from the back. Its also been de-tuned and has less toys inside so they can sell it in the states :( Used to like them more that scoobies but not so sure now, think i'd have a RX8 instead ;)
Saw one at the NEC. (Albeit at a distance:mad: ) I would seriously consider getting one but I'm not too sure about reliability on the rotary engines.
Deffo want a test drive though:D
Alg;) (it'll never be a patch on the SX though:cool: )
The Evo III and IV were the best lookers out of the lot....
Been in a Evo VI Makinen and hell that was fun, havent been in it since its had its 430bhp make over though.
I do like the VII as it is very understated and has a better chasis than the VI.
Hey just realised, I can afford a new VII, MUST BUY HOUSE MUST BUY HOUSE MUST BUY HOUSE!
Looks like I need a HOUSE first though!!! :(
At first glance, it's gone to look a bit like the (lack of) Carisma :(

I saw one at the Autosport show yesterday (up close) and the front is nasty, i'm very dissapointed with the looks now.

Perhaps. Not 100% Sure BUT:
Standard Evo going to be 237bhp as more restrictions on emmissions for Euro IV standared has reduced power output.
There is going to be "high" power versions producing the same as current i.e. 276bhp and I can only assume to do this they have had to increase the boost hence the 19psi max instead of current versions which max at 15psi.
19psi seems alot of boost for a standard car! I wonder if it has a big or little turbo?
That is really quite horrible...
I would never consider owning one - if ever a car deserves the moniker of hairdresser mobile, that is it. Damn, that is truly foul.
What have they done to it? Maybe the Jap techs got twitchy about the image they were putting out... But wasn't that the point?
Bring back the VI Makkinnen, all is forgiven!

8.8-1 compression and 19PSI! Me thinks it will get through head gaskets like a fat man through pies.
I rekon its a small turbo as it only manages 16 PSI at 6500 RPM

Loads of torque low down for a 4 pot. Maybe its using electronic boost control to get a nice flat torque curve...more boost low down than up top etc.
Not sure if it does as my mate one recently had an HKS leccy boost controller fitted on its was to 430bhp!
Oh and his maca originally produce the same as the VI Extreme! (320ish BHP). and is a Ralliart UK car so complies with emissions regs!
