View Full Version : Amiga MOD's
Hullo, i'm trying to find an archive of some sorts of MOD files from old Amiga games. In particular, it's a long shot, but does anyone have the mod from KGB ? or Magic Potion ?
I've got millions of them...name away. I think I've got KGB as well...and I've got a site somewhere with load to download somewhere....I'll av a look.
Do you mean Magic Pockets?
Try here...
http://www.back2roots.org/Music/
http://exotica.fix.no/tunes/unexotica/allfiles.html
That site also has emulators, rippers and games too.
I've got quite a few.
a good place to look is www.scene.org (good for demos / MODs).
Dave
The best mods were...
1. Project X Title Theme
2. DynaBlaster End Tune
3. Stardust/Super Stardust - amazing cos it was done thru 12 channels when the Amiga could only support 4-channel sound.
4. Alien Breed 92SE - fav game of all time!!
5. Supercars 2
yah yah! you guys are teh win!
Just listening to the Zool soundtrack...ahh memories!
Hrm magic potion was a little music mod that floated about somewhere - it was something I used to play a lot in .. err I think it was SoundTracker or something?
Also the KGB tune.. after listening to the full game's mods I must conclude the mod I am after is from a coverdisc demo. That's gonna be probably next to impossible to track down :'( but there's so much here it won't be a problem :D
It's a good site init that exotica one.
It's strange but the Lotus Turbo Esprit Challenge music goes well with need for speed HP2 on the PS2 :D
I've got about 5 cds worth of amiga ROMS if you want to relieve memories ;)
Dave
PS: Project X / Alien Breed :D those were the days :)
My word! Remember the infamous 'subliminal' message in Lotus 2 ? During the boot loading song, listen to just one of the audio channels and hear that bloke grumpily say DO NOT COPY THIS GAME.. top stuff :D
Lotus II had the best music - the title track went sumit like
"chikachikaaaaa chikachikaaaaaa" :D
And when you drove over the red 'pods' it went
"TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOO"
hehe
:D
I'd swop me PS2 for my Amiga 500+!
Yeh I remember that message - you can hear it on the mods!!
Alien Breed in that husky woman voice...
"Player one, requires keys"
:D
...or the infamous "Insert Disk Twoooo"
Kinda like Gauntlet,.
"Blue player needs food"
.....
"Red player shot the food" LOL :D
Dave
Magazine articles used to run articles over which game had the best 'Change disk' graphics, or loading screens!!!
Amiga Action, Amiga Power, Amiga Format RIP!
Right Im off to download the latest copy of WinUAE (http://www.winuae.net/files/InstallWinUAE0822R4.exe) then relieve some memories :)
Dave
Oh NO!
nah, Alien Breed then Chaos Engine for me :)
Dave
I completed Chao Engine - damn hard!
anyone know where I could get hold of a mouse and a cd32 control pad.
I fancy playing the old beasty again!

Amiga's were quality, ive still got my old 500 and all my games :)
i used to love supercars 2 and james pond :)
First (but not the last) game I ever completed without a cheat.
I too have still got my old Amiga 500 (with 1/2mb upgrade and 2nd diskdrive:eek: )
Those were the days. Anyone remember Rik Dangerous? Spent most of my GSCE study time lplaying that and Lotus ETC 1 and 2.
Alg;)
Andyf,
What magaizine was it? I've still got most of my old Amiga Format cover disks in a cupboard somewhere.

i had the 1/2 meg upgrade an an extra external drive too :)
them were the days, 1/2 a meg of memory was more than enough , not like now where i need 512meg just to run windows (or whatever)
Rick Dangerous was good, i used to get really stressed out when id got all the way to the bottom of a really hard screen an then id get killed and he would fly across the creen screaming
the Flashback graphics were amazing when it came out, plus it was really atmospheric :)
i used to get the One Amiga magazine (still got them somewhere and all my cover disks)

After I got my A1200, in about 96 I think, I got a 50MHz '060 board with 32MB of RAM and a 1 GIG HDD. From pressing the power button to Workbench being fully loaded took under 6 seconds! Eat your heart out Winblows XP!
Aaah flashback. Good old rotoscoping :) I think thats what it was called. First pionered with Prince of persia.
Dave
Another classy affair although I found f*cking hard and never managed to complete it.
Alg (Now have soft gooey recollections of a simpler less demanding life before work or 'Tax');)
Thought I'd throw in another classic --> IK+, anyone remember that? one of the best multi player games invented.
And going back to the original point that Andy started the thread on. Xenon II 'Megablast' one of the best in game soundtracks ever!!!

That the little tune also from Assault On Precinct 13?
Was I the only one that loved the game Hunter then?
Cheers, Phil
Not sure, might have been. It was released as a single prior to the game and they got the lisence afterwards.
Don't remenber 'Hunter' what was it about?

Basically it was wierd, you were a soldier and you were stuck in the middle of nowhere and you nicked cars/helicopters/boats and stuff and killed enemy blokes, I can't remember the task you has to complete though

hunter was too hard, i never could find anything to kill other than running over rabbits in jeeps so that they would explode.
plus the sound of the sea when i was swimming about (usually after crashing a helicopter) used to drive me nuts.
Sensible World Of Soccer was the classic footy game - still my fave game of all time D
Had a 12 player league one afternoon in the summer hols.
Had the Amiga wired into my TV upstairs and coz the house only had one TV aerial you could see the picture on the TV downstairs too.
10 spectators in the living room watching the two players battle it out upstairs on two very worn out zip sticks (remember those?)
Ater many hours of playing I came 10th beating an 11year old (someones brother) and a girl:( Oh the shame:p
Alg;)
I HATE footie games but LOVED sensible soccer :)
Xenon2 aaah good ol Bitmap brothers. Yep, a very classy theme tune. I'm off to play Project X :D
Dave
Mercenary?
It came as one of 10 free quality games when I bought the Amiga 500 and sat gathering dust for 12 months until I came down with glandular fever and spent a couple of weeks playing everything I owned to stop boredom.
Graphics were dire (even then) but gameplay was amazing as was the follow up Damocles
Alg;)
Was anybody here into Wing Commander? Attrocious frame rates but still an amzing game! The old 68000 7.14Mhz CPU struggled with texture mapping!
As far as I'm concerned Speedball 2 hasn't been beaten as a 2 player sports sim. Frontier:Elite 2 was ace, you could fight for the military or just deal drugs and fight the cops
Other ones I liked were James Pond 2: ROBOCOD, and Wings.
can someone explain to me in SIMPLE terms how to get this winUAE to work.... downloaded it from dave's link... then got stuck when it told me to put a kickstart disk in
You need the Amiga ROM?
Amiga 500 - Kickstart 1.3
Amiga 500+/600 - Kickstart 2.0
Amiga 1200/4000 (AGA shipset) - Kickstart 3.0
Do you want them mailing to you?
pretty please :D
graham_midge@hotmail.com
mrmidgers@sxoc.com
a brief explanation about what to do with it and what to do next wouldn't go amiss either;) please thankyou kindly :D
Mr Midgers - check ur mail :D
There should be standard configurations to load - aslong as you have the Amiga ROM, and games (.adf files), you shouldn't have a problem :)
...and for games. Check out...
http://www.back2roots.org/Games/ADF-Games/
I've just downloads Monkey Island 2 - all 11 disks worth! :D Anyone found Indiana Jones of the Fate of Atlantis?
just getting Skidmarks ( ) at the moment... I'm desperate to find Stuntcar. The one where you drove round on a track a bit like a rollercoaster track, about the width of ya car with mega soft suspension. anyone know where it is?
I found Indian Joe but that's not quite the same is it... sorry
here...

Anyone remember what Silkworm4 was called. It was a top down viewed helicopter jeep/speedboat thingy. Player1 had the copter, player2 had the jeep that transformed into a speedboat. Great game.
SWIV
which stood for all manner of thihngs
SilkWorkIV being the most obious :)
Special Weapons Intercept Vehicles was another.
Rather special at the time - no 'loading' times when you changed levels, and they covered up palette changes with pebbles and things.
I got SWIV - fookin mint, almost completed it too!
I also had Banshee which was quite good.
Whatever happened to "Ocean" who used to make games, and "US Gold"?
grr... I can't get any games to work:mad: I must be missing something
N E chance you could send me the kickstart roms as well...
mungoman@btinternet.com
TIA

US Gold merged with Eidos Interactive, who are still around.
Ocean were bought by Infogrames, still around
Eidos comprise of Core Design (famous for: Tomb Raider), Lankhor (???), Domark (Hard Driving!), US Gold ( old spectrum/amiga stuff )
Lankhor did "Vroom" - you have to remember that game!!!
WinUAE is a bit of a bitch to configure sometimes. Should work fine with default settings on most games though :) Havent got project x :( played Alien Breed and Zany Golf for a while though :D
Dave
Try sending it to:-
Cheers Buddy, I'll need all the bits possible as I'm crap with this computer stuff :o
Thanks,
Dunc.

cheers mate I just gotrthe first one and will have the server clean in about 5 mins.
Does anyone remember a game called THE DIG?
It is an adventure game (I love the Monkey Islands ones...)
I really want to play it again, because I would rate is easily within the top 5 adventure games I have ever played...
I can barely remember the script but the green gems that bring back people from the dead should tiggle the memory cells?
Does anyone know where I can get it from? or even better anyone who has a copy who doesnt want it anymore?
It was released on budget about 1-2 years ago, but since then it has just disappeared, I have tried searching on the web - no luck, I have asked shops such as Game Zone, EB, etc, and they dont stock it or order it anymore...
Anyone??
Cheers,
I remember it- I completed it. Excellent game - try www.the-underdogs.org
Yeah, I had the ATARI STE 1040, with a second disk drive, which was brillant when playing games that came on 2 disks..
But when we moved home, my step dad decided it was time to throw away everything...
nice of him to tell me he was going to do so:mad:
I had 100's and 100's of games for it. PLUTO was a classic..
also does anyone remember Dungeon Master?? HOW LONG WAS THAT GAME. I kept on getting scared and wouldnt play it (remember I was about 7:p )
it was a good game tho.

Cheers ant got the 3.01 now too.
Guru Meditation #bollox bollox bollox
now i remember why it's sat in the loft:rolleyes:
Does anyone know what the keys are? Space bar does the flames, return does acceleration with flames, couldn't be assed working out the rest (it was getting late alright, and I'd had enough guru meditation action for one night already).
Can you save your progress in Games using winUAE?
Cheers,
Dunc.
