Need some advice, if anyone has been though a similar situation ... my uncle was involved in an accident - car lost control and smashed into his leg and part of foot, (he was on a motorbike) 7 operations later including muscle, vein, bone and skin grafts, hes left with a limp and looking like a patchwork quilt. Hes now 59, and the claim is coming to a head, his solicitor has been reluctant to really commit hisself to anything and is a 3 hour journey away, am thinking of making an appointment to see solicitor for what good it will do. An offer has been made and cant help but think hes been done hard done to, solicitor says it seems generous, but have wondered whose side hes been working on from day 1. Its diffiucult without putting all details down, but the break was as near to an amputation as it gets, and the old chap needs enough money to retire on he has a crap pension and no money to speak of. Am concerned about 'the other side' filiming him doing some work in the garden, hes not been able to do anything for the past three years and needs a project to do. As soon as we reject the claim I think they will be crawling around until they get some evidence, and halve his claim. Can anyone advise with anything?

Mate came off his bike at work (broken hand) 4 months off work and got offered £15k
Bruv had an accident at work (not quite the same:wack: ) broke his collar bone and snapped his Femur in half, off work for 12 months.
Got £25k with 'accepted' 25% of the blame.

Surely they are not allowed to film him without permission

But id go through with the claim, especially at his age and with pension systems not exactly helping anyone the way they should these days, i think both he and you, would regret not going through with it

Go for it and see what happens, youve got nothing to loose :)

of course they do, there hire people like private investigaters. if it was going to save an insureance company thousands, wouldn't it make sense.

my mate got followed loads and they even knocked on his front door of his rented house to see if he lived there. it was funny driving around watching them following tring to keep up ..............

well its nearly 3 years since the accident and he may have to have another operation yet

as for money, seen as though its there first offer is it normal practice for insurers to offer a low amount to see if they get away with it?
