This is my Subaru Engine. The big end went about 2 months ago. It has taken me that long to get a garage and some tools together.
It took about 5 hours prep and 2 hours to get out. Now that I know what I am doing it would take even less. It is on a stand now and I am looking forward to stripping it.
I am going to take the manifolds off next, turbo then heads. I will post up more pics if people want while I break it down.
The plan is to change the block, if I can't get one I like I will just get engine minus heads then last choice a whole new engine. I would rather have a block so I know that its getting done right.
I will try and post up some better pics soon.
I've got an engine like that! :D
(The big ends are ok in mine though) :p

This is an sx forum. I can't see many people being that interested in a scooby engine removal. Especially as most of us feckin hate scooby's.:D

This is the Non 200sx related chat section:). There are other Scooby owners on here, they are possibly interested in what I say:) .
ps. I like s14's a lot and may still get one:sxoc: .

pmsl, that could be taken completely the wrong way VS, for the benefit of Chris the :D at the end means he's not serious
And none of us like Veilside kits anyway, so don't listen to what he says :D:D:D

I'm not that good for advice tbh but you can always ask me,if I don't know I will know someone who does  ;)
Good luck with the big ends Chris. Take an extra good look to the crank while your at it  Heard they can be faulty quick during big end failure.
And take your time doing it properly ;) Dont make it a quicky and be in the same position within a month or something
I look forward to hearing how you get on. Hope it all goes well mate!
Got any pics of the rest of the car? Theres a fair chance I've seen you about :)

Strangely I can't really find any pics apart from this one. I think I must have taken them all with my 35mm camera. Its a Silver Classic Wagon and the S14 in the pic Melongs to ME54022.:)

Engine on stand.
I need 1 more more mounting bolt for the stand and will have to wait till I get it before I can start stripping it.
I have a stag weekend in Aberdeen on my next days off so I wont get any more done for about 2 weeks but I will post some more photos up then when I make progress.

After a few busy weekends I managed to get more work done on the engine. I took off the exhaust manifold, up-pipe, turbo, inlet manifold. If the weather is good tomorrow I will get the timing belt off and hopefully the heads, mind you thats only if Halfords sell a 14mm 12 sided socket:confused: .
Here is some photos.

Got some more work done at the weekend. Heads are now off. Just waiting for my new block to arrive so I can build it back up again.

Thats the piston that has the knackered bearing. When it's at the tdc you can push it back in 3-4mm.
