Well I set about going over my car today with a Meguiars claybar, then Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish and then Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax (that same stuff I did my AW11 last year and that came out great!).

While it's definitely got a better shine than before and I'm sure water will just bead off it's not as shiny as I hoped it would be. Maybe it's because it's a silver car, but the reflections are not sharp, almost blured. Maybe it's got fine orange peal? While there are a couple of places that have got orange peal (it's had some paint in the past) the whole car has 'blury' reflections. You cant see it in the pictures, but I think it's going to need a machine polish:(

try some autoglym super resin on it along with gold class wax

or even try p21s carnuba wax

for silver cars u need products that will give you the wet shine

Yeah I have to admit I was very unimpressed with the Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish:down:

Silver is a bastard to get good reflections from compared to something like black, but isn't impossible!

Yeah I suspect that's half the reason, but it's not as shiny looking as I expected. The clay didn't seem to clean much off, but I think that's because the paint didn't need much cleaning, rather than it not doing its job.

Here's a picture of my AW11 after the same treatment.

Yeah it's probably just not got alot of stuff bonded to the paint, better that way anyway really as the clay lasts longer lol :D

MR2 looks nice too :)

Bucket of water, soft cloth and Farecla G3 by hand. Kepp the cloth wet and apply small amounts of G3 in small, gentle circular motions. This should be enough to remove the dulled patches.

I do wonder if I'm just expecting too much from silver paint. I've been out and had a look this morning and the paint is glass smooth. I think with a bit more polishing I'll get it how I want it:nod: G3 could be worth trying:nod:

They are difficult to get deep reflections from simply due to the colour but the Klasse range of products really work well

Klasse-all-one (red bottle)
Klasse Sealant (silver bottle)

Stick to synthetic wax with silver / bright coloured cars rather than a carnuba wax as well...

Have you checked the condition of the paintwork under halogens?

Did you remove all the paintwork contamination?

Failing all that then it sounds as though the Lexus paintwork is on the tough side and machine polishing would be needed after all.

Remember the Toyota MR2 paint is very very soft

Considering the condition of the paint at the moment I wouldnt advise G3 either...

The paint was very clean to start with. The claybar is still pretty clean after doing the whole car. Mr. OCD has advised me that short of a good machine polishing, AG SRP will do a very good job:thumbs:
