View Full Version : Racelogic Traction Control - Fitting it!
Attention TAC, Will and Dave(Cater)
Went to the SE open day today and asked Pete about fitting the kit for me and Taff.
Said he'd have to check - but basically it would be their standard labour rate for however long it takes.
Cant take much more than 4 hours surely (is this about right Dan/Barry?)
S13's are harder to set up due to only having one sodding ABS wheelspeed sensor on the back (bugger!)
Spoke to Ben about it and he's probably up for it - even with his previous "draining" experience (hehe!) with SE.
I'll let you know what price it's gonna be for S13 and S14 on Friday when I'm down there next.

Getting impatient for TC now!
Cheers Matt. My other ½ is planning to fit it himself...hopefully not too impossible, tho' any hints & tips will probably be gratefully received! Have had quick look at intructions on web & they seem to be ok, tho' time will tell!
Have lost track of how long it's been. Should be arriving soon, shouldn't it? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks Matt.
I'll probably want a couple of other things done while I'm there. I'll have to give them a ring and try ang get some info (wish me luck http://www.kafegaul.com/forum/images/smilies/goof.gif

I spoke to Motorsport Engineering (authorised racelogic dealers/fitters) and they said that it would take 10 hours to do a 200sx (S14 - they've done it before but didn't say how much of the kit was fitted). Also spoke to a guy at Turbo Systems and he wouldn't quote for fitting. He was very helpfull tho' and said its an easy, but time consuming job.

Well racelogic quoted me £150+vat for fitting and said it would take about 4 hours (but that was when I was buying the whole system off them).
Looking at the S14 manual they also only have one rear sensor just before the rear diff so we're all in the same boat http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Got the car serviced at SE today - YIPPEE! No surprises!
Had Pete work out the prices for the fitting - these are as follows:
S13 Full fitting (drive in with TC in box) £150.
S13 Fitting, with controller mounted on dash/console by yourself and wiring loom ready to connect into TC box o'tricks £120.
S14 is £160 for full fitting or £130 if you mount the controller yourself. It's a bit more cos the labour rate is £5 an hour more for an S14.
Pete has said that a lot of the time is wasted when fitted due to customers not being able to make their mind up and then Se having to fit it where they want it (eventually!)
Fitting time (including 1 hour for road testing/seting up with a laptop is 5 hours (approx).
The prices above are assuming there are no other problems with the car aswell!
Plesase note, these prices include vat.
Gonna chase up to see where the bleeding TC's are now to get mine booked in before 1/4 mile city!

I'm resurrecting this one from the deep. Just thinking, a car without ABS sensors can have special sensors bought and fitted for about 50 quid a piece. What if I was to buy two of these, and fit one to each of the rear wheels, and that'd get around the one rear sensor on the back. Would it be worth it? Would it save me any money?

Matt,
Sold My TC to Spooky, but Ben wired his in no probs (ish...) and it is just the setting up thats the prob.
Nobody cares for a quality install as much as the owner, so I reckon if you've got the time, do it on weekend. ...and you KNOW how I feel About Silly Enginefearing. To use a few words, "my car" "bargepole" "SE" and "will never touch again"
Hope you had a good holiday. My car has new thermostat, filter (after 3 years http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif ) and is STILL faster than Bens http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif as proved on the A127, damp roads, oil on the road inducing a 4th gear wheelspin .... the usual. Close Benny, Very Close http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

TC is wicked!!!
Those who say it is for girls haven;t tried it. Next thing you know they'll be telling us tht autos are quicker than manuals!!!!!

I think you will be impressed once it is fitted and setup.
John.
a quick heads up for you guys thinking about after market sensors
a friend of mine with mr2turbo that didnt have ABS has bought TC. he asked racelogic about the sensors, and they supply single point sensors... IE they take a whole revolution to be picked up
thats not too good for reducing wheelspin...
factory fitted sensors on most cars that have ABS have 36/40 point sensors.. IE they send a signal a lot quicker....
i'm not sure how your cars act with a single sensor, but i would guess it's got a lot more hot spots than an aftermarket one..
just fyi http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Guys, what's the problem??? The rear sensor is on the LSD, there is no difference in the wheel spin rate for the rear wheels. When they spin, they do it at the same rate, so why do ya want 2 sensors???

Far too many mods to list here, it takes up far too much space and after being asked very nicely I've decided to shorten the sig (Is that a WOOHOO I hear??)
I, have NO SMELLY TREE, have no plans for a smelly tree and do not want a smelly tree, EVER!!!
Do not take offence to anything I say, even though I probably mean it. I am more than slightly mad, so just chill de feck oooot, ok!
Oh okay, thanks for the info, just wanted to ask the question.
