Anyone have any songs that ALWAYS make them put their foot down? This morning I had to remove a compilation tape from the car as I couldn't guarantee what would happen when <SAD> the guitar riff from Money For Nothing kicked in </SAD> :p

I used to have an Alanis Morrissette tape in my car and my missus said the Angrier Alanis was the faster I drove. She made me play Portishead to slow me down:D

I daren't play anything by Motorhead in the car;)

I'm dancemusic person so for me, it'd have to be the cd F.A.C.T by Carl Cox. Techno from 1995!

Theres a few tracks that make me go nuts.. And for some reason they only get played when im driving sensibly, thus insensing me to go fast.

"cant you go anywhere sensibly" by miss chimp
"why are you racing that car" by miss chimp
"you are such a d.head sometimes" by miss chimp
"whats the hurry" by miss chimp
"dont you dare" by miss chimp
"stop it" by miss chimp.

yeah, he's dead now. :) But before that he tried to jump off a moving plane. Carl Crack I think his name was.
Alec Empire has moved onto other things though now.

  You play that in your car! I wouldn't be here if I had that in my car! Picture the scene:-

F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
(Foot pressure on accelerator increases with each line)

F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
F'k you, I won't do what you tell me....
(Spins off road in a Rage Against the Machine caused fury at obsurdly inappropriate speed)

(Silence, accompanyed by slight sound of flickering flames) :( :(

dont you feel like the odd one out here? :D

personally I dont think that dance music affects my driving, well not the stuff like house, trance, techno (maybe Frantic just isnt fast enough for me? :D )... stuff like hardstep jungle/DnB maybe... it must be the lack of (angry?) emotion in dance music that is the reason. but aggressive heavy metal/rock/punk rock probably does lead to bad driving techniques

How about songs to slow you down? I always seem to go into cruise mode when listening to Snoop Dogg

Good Band, but Jon Spencer is the dad, gotta love him.He never looks any older(first saw him when i was 17,im 33 now).Think he must have prematurely embalmed himself with various drugs.

I don't know why but listening to Jamiroquai's Cosmic Girl while driving makes feel the need to cruise at 100mph+ at all times.

Didn't realise music had this effect on other people.

I've also got some track's that make me just want to cruise along at about 20mph everywhere!!

That's a classic I reckon. Along with Moby - Go and the Chemical Bros. - Under the Influence. Sounds mental with 2 12" subs in the boot:D

"Let There Be Rock" by AC/DC (most of their stuff is pretty good)
and of course . . . . RAMMSTEIN!!!!! (Lets out primal yell of guttural rage just at the thought of it and wanders off looking for car keys with insane glint in eyes . . . )

If I'm low on gas I put on some Muddy Waters or Mercury Rev which is quite relaxing.

Most of the time I just wind the windows down and listen to the engine though - but I can see how you humble four-cylinder peasants would get bored of that pretty quick :)

Iron Maiden (run to the hills / number of the beast (when the riff comes in :D ) )

Or Anything else heavy rockish :)

Offspring, Metallica, Nirvana, Bloodhound Gang, Led Zeplin and of course Sabbath :) :D

Most things with a decent riff make me drive faster though... But only if the road conditions and legal speed limits allow it officer.

So many songs, so little space...
Thing is my tape deck is boogerd and I haven't got around to putting a new system in...
Anyway from previous experience and the radio:

Du Hast/Adios by Rammstein.
Headlong/ the one filmed on the train (can't remember what it was called) - Queen
Sabbath
Blue - Eiffel 65
Thunder and Lightening - Thin Lizzy...

Too dangerous...

Gotta be any of the rage albums and now of course Audioslave. Track 1 - Cochise, just builds and builds then goes mental. At which point foot becomes planted through the bulk head!:)

And as phill said, Cosmic girl. There's also a track on the album that's just a Ferrari zooming along. You hear the gear lever clacking its way through the open aluminium gate. Grrr!:D

"Just a Day" by Feeder is quite a good one, or anything by Linkin Park, especially "Crawling" and "Run Away" :D

btw, I don't have these driving fast problems with my gf, she just goes "wheeeee!" and grins :D

ICE T War & Peace Vol 1

Foo Fighters The Colour And The Shape

ICE T's a good call, I'm a home invasion man myself. I can imagine that the "OG" would bring my foot apon the pedal fairly harshly!

Snoop Dog and Dr DRE bring me to cruising speed though, (pretending my car is bouncing up and down  )

NikB
10-01-2003, 22:07
Foo Fighters - times like these

Makes your motor go very fast.

vega
10-01-2003, 22:13
Christ, I cocked that up didn't I

Ice T's cool, got a few of his early stuff, but what I meant was:

Ice Cube: War & Peace Volume 1. You need this In your life, great album.

I could also add any of the 3 Prodigy albums do it for me, along with some of the early Aphex Twin :)

Audioslave does have the singer from Soundgarden as a lead singer and he has, IMHO, the best RAWK voice going. Zak is cool but the whole protest against stuff can get a bit old:eek:

Audio slave is just good old fashioned R+R. And if all else fails, just put on back in black by ACDC, possibly the best record ever!

I think cars may be the best places to listening to music, what thinks you all?

I rarely put a cd on at home, but I switch on the car stereo to just back down the drive!!

Mater of puppets- Metallica
Bombs over Bagdad- The Outkast and RATM version
Most Deftones stuff

It gets quite dangerous.

When I first got the car I took a few cd's for the drive home and as it was wet i decided that korn and soundgarden werent going in so I took Benfolds Five instead. Not quite the same effect

Ah, now I understand. Ice T's got so many albums that I just assumed that was one I've not heard of  :o

Don't have any Ice Cube, I should really get the figure out.

The Chemical Brothers "Dig your own hole" is another one I can't trust in my car, I dread to think what would happen when "setting sun" came on

Where & when did you see them?
Was it the Brixton Academy gig that's an official bootleg?
28 minutes of noise, the gig started where the gig normally ends, full on.

I agree. Classical music can have exactly the same effect! Especially stuff like Ride of the Valkyries etc :D Linkin' Park has the effect on my motor, and Lit almost does it but not quite. Green Day has been known to do it though :D
