Hi All
You know how the Fast and The Furious ect. always talk about 10 sec quarter miles. My question is how is this possible. The Mclaren F1 (Which is a stupidly fast car) does a quarter mile time of 11.5 secs. (According to autocar). So how can these cars shave about 1 second off that? Seeing as most of them will top out at 150mph.

That supra in F&F was supposed to be a 10 sec car and it had trouble beating that ferrari in the film.
Funniest thing though was the bloody VW. A front wheel drive 10 sec car??????:D

And that dodge type American car at the end 9 seconds flat? It spent about 9 seconds in the air not moving much.:D :D

cos its a film and 10 secs sounds better than realistic figures.
Although 800bhp in a supra should see it under 10 with the right bits added on to it. I think there is a vid somewhere of a silver supra with around 800bhp that does it in 9.something.
It was the daft Jun Supra I think,

There is a Focus in America with around 1000 BHP that does it in about 10 seconds :eek:
Although it only looks like a Focus ;) but it is FWD.
Yeah but FWD drag cars look ridiculous with fookin huge drag slicks on the front ! LOL

When they talk about a 10 second car, don't they mean a 1/4 mile time of less than 11 seconds, as opposed to one that can do it in less than 10? Anyway, they all relied on 2 NOS jets.

Yeah, I've seen a honda CRX drag car with those massive tyres on the front, looks really weird, has to have massive bulges in the bonnet for them.

I think Apexi USa have a demo car that does a 10 sec 1/4, based around (if memory serves) a Honda Integra (type R? :) )

We've all seen the 650+ BHP Supra video where it get trounsed by a Macca F1... :)
And yes the Dodge Cahrger from F&F is the ONLY believable car on there, as the wheelie bars were edited out of the acceleration shot...Thats a rather MASSIVE Supercharged Hemi running in it!

I reckon it would do 10's if you took off the stupidly large brakes and replaced them with smaller ones that only need to stop you slowely and once ... and if you got rid of that suspension that allows you to go round corners, in place of some soggy drag units .... and if you stripped out all that unecessary weight that is used like exhaust control valves, itallian hand sticked leather, airbags

Current car weighs about 1100kg and I would estimate has about 500-550bhp?

Be good to see another s-body in the 10's...... your turbo is bigger than mine I think so you should be ok,
