View Full Version : Le Mans/France Warning
Friend of mine went on holiday to France on Saturday. Rang me today to say that as he went through French passport control/customs in Calais he was stopped cos he had left his radar detector on diplay. Fine £750 plus detector impounded.
Apparently he got off lightly cos the thing wasn't switched on. If it had been he could have had the car impounded http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/cwm/cwm/angryfire.gif .
So if like me you use one, it'll pay to be discreet.

What are you using, JB?
I've recently invested in a Snooper (the £300 one).
I reckon it's a good buy. Just got to figure out what makes it go bonkers occasionally on an empty motorway (usually under bridges).
Saved me the other day, though. Was doing, er, over the limit by quite a bit and it went haywire. I daren't risk it and jammed everything in. I got another two alerts before I pulled off the motorway (kept strictly to less that 70) and as I went round the roundabout over the motorway plod had just passed underneath.
I had betty swollocks, I can tell you.

Constant false chirruping a pain but great for detecting laser cameras on motorway bridges. Have you noticed how you get more of these cameras on a fine day than on a wet one. Nice work for plod I s'pose.

THAT'S the one I've got.
Whenever I'm asked I can never remember, though....
You get the odd false chirp but it isn't as bad as others I've tested. And it DOES give you advanced warning of cameras, sometimes not much but at least a better chance than being without one.

I got the 750i and it's saved me a few times against Kojak with his Kodak, smarmy git's they look so annoyed that they havent just clocked you speeding. Thinking of getting the laser jammer although I've recentley heard they are now illegal. might still give one ago though just to see plod smaking his radar trying to get the damn thing to work

Apparently they are illegal because you're interfering with a police office carrying out his duties or some such twaddle.
How about them interfering with you enjoying your 200, eh?
