View Full Version : .avi --> DVD ?
Is this possible? Got SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much anime on various computers, and I want to try and put some onto DVD so I can watch them away from the computer..
*downloads Oh! My Goddess - The Movie..* :D
Ta in advance.
-D.
hehe I've been thinking of buying a DVD burner to do this. No reason why not mate, just gotta shell out the spondoolies.
I've downloaded 9gb of anime so far :D

You can convert the avi's to mpegs and then burn them as VCD or SVCD depending on the quality of the encoding. They should then play on most DVD players. This would mean that you don't need a dvd burner but you'd end up with more discs.
Apart from mine :( grrr, old Dvd player :(
Dave
VCD is all well and good..
But I want to make DVDs..
Have the burner, just need to know how to do it :D

I got a cheap one for upstairs from Sainsburys.
Mico Classica 20 £85 have a lookhere (http://www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/DVDPlayers/Mico/MicoClasica20.php) for a review. Plays everything I've put in it, is region free and has no problems with CDR/CDRW/MP3/VCD/SVCD/RCE etc
To author a DVD video format disc you'll probably need some kind of authoring software. Unfortunately none springs to mind :( errr check www.zdnet.com I think, they should have reviews / lists of the available software and whether demo's are available etc.
Dan: try www.vcdhelp.com I think that has DVD stuff on it. Nero 5.5.9.17 burns DVDs (PM me).
Dave:
Thanks mate :) I'll prolly be investing in something a bit special later on when the S14s paid for
Dave
Cheers Andy, you still going to that all nighter? Can't decide whether or not to go :)
Dave, already have the latest Nero, winkwinknudgenudge. But thanks anyway ;)

I've played around with this a bit, there are a few bits of software to do it. It's a bit involved though.
I have Steinburg DVD copy on order which will rip and re-encode a DVD to fit on a 4.7Gb DVDR, not sure if it will do avi - dvd, I hope so otherwise it involves much pissing arouind.
have a look here, tis a good DVDR forum.

I'm led to believe that the answer I am looking for is here; http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm
avi to DVD mpeg 2 :)
Just need to get the page to actually work, now..
