View Full Version : Nismo Black Aluminium gear knob..
..mine just arrived today and its a bit sh1t really :wack:
doesnt look as big as i thought it would so its just a stubby little thing, although marginally better than the worn looking oem one.. and even worse it just doesnt have any weight to it, so shifting just doesnt feel right, especially when knocking it into first and second :annoyed:
gonna stick with it for a bit, but if your considering buying one, i'd look for something a little more ergonomic.. not the best shift feel
pics to come though, for those who are interested :)
Yeah let us see some piccys!
Do you rekon the leather one might have a bit more weight to it?
heres a quick pic...

wish i had gone for the normal silver aluminuim one, but i guess this is slightly more subtle with a black interior...
i'm starting to get used to it, seeing as its lighter it makes gear shifts seem faster once the box has warmed up, which i guess it a good thing, but for lazy laid back driving the heavier shifter was nicer..
i've gotten used to its stumpiness too, but a longer knob ( :wack: ) wouldnt have gone a miss

Given that the "mo" in Nismo stands for "motorsport", I'd have thought they'd send you a gearknob that weight 54 tonnes and slowed your car right down. ;)
i just wasnt expecting such a great difference in weights otherwise i may have looked elsewhere :)
i'm more the lazy style of driver :)

the weight difference is crazy and unless youve tried one you wont know how much it effects changes. Once the short shifter was fitted it made changes a nightmare. OEM back on and it shifts like a dream again

the greddy 'ball' knob feels brill if your after a jdm one.. even the diamond one does aswell!
I love mine
Just wait until you leave the car out in the sun for a bit :wack:
i had the nismo 1 from apex and it was on the car for 24hrs before i put it up for sale its just way to small and i thought 1 hard gear change and im gonna break it:eek: , and i havnt found 1 that feels as good as the standard 1 yet, any1
i really should have had used it for a while before posting a review style thread :wack:
i keep changing my mind about it!
forward and backward shifts seem faster (ie. 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th) but diagonal shifts are a little more awkward because of the smaller knob (ie. 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th)
until i find one that is better weighted, slightly longer and looks just as good its staying :)
I've got one just like this and love it:nod:
Thats right folks, I love my knob:D
