View Full Version : postal stamps????
hi all, it was my posties last day today and he gave me a sheet of stamps (some £1, 50's, 20, and E's) all in all about £20 worth , can i go to the post office and cash these???? any one know what the E's one are (please no drug jokes:rolleyes: :) :p ) should have really asked him, but my brain wasn't with me at 7.30am.
thanks
yeah, apparently you can use them as legal tender so i cant see why they wouldnt swap them in for cash equivalent.
Dunno about the E ones tho
Send em to Bren for a new Guage Pod :D
think the E ones are 1st class
E one's are for posting to other EEC countries.

They were asking if stamps were legal tender on the breakfast show a while back and someone said they were...
I heard a story about a woman on a bus who tried to pay the conductor (it was a long time ago) in stamps. He said he wouldn't take them but another woman piped up and said he had to because they were legal tender. The conductor then gave the stamps to the second woman for her change when she bought a ticket!
Be careful what you argue for;)
That story's probably an urban myth;)
ps. why does a postman carry sheets of stamps, or did he nick 'em from the depot? Obviously answer this question in a non incriminating way......
Im pretty sure that is an urban myth (created about 6 months ago). Have you all seen "The Office" series 1??? well during a training meeting they are having David goes off on a tangent about stamps being legal tender and if you gave them to a bus driver he'd have to accept them. wonder if this is where all of this came from ;)
Dave
I heard it a lot longer than 6 months ago - more like 6 years I think, hence I can't remember where I heard it.
