I fancy an MP3 player for the *****, I`ve currently got a Sony H/U and 10 disc CD in the boot and could do without dumping them! Anybody know of a decent MP3 thingie that I can mount under the seat and discretely wire up so it`s "invisible"??
I dont wanna spend loads of cash either, prefer that for future performance mods;)

Strewth!! Thats a technical site!! They look like more than I want to spend £500ish
I`m thinking that with my Sony H/U I can buy a multiplay CD unit that can read MP3`s and just swap it for my ordinary one in the boot, is that possible??

Not sure that sony do a 10 MP3 changer.

You should be able to get an EMPEG for £350 (10GB model).

They are a quality bit of kit and considering they EOL'ed JAN 2002, Empeg are still writing software for them as well as all the hacking going on in the community with help from empeg.

Empeg support is second to none (Just read the posts of praise for David)

New tuner on the way, digital out, illuminated buttons, new facias etc , it is not a dead product and is still the market leader and the price of the units is going up rather than down

The empeg can easily be intergrated in to your current setup between the changer and the head (This is how mine is until the tuner comes out)

www.empegbbs.com

They do come up for sale on there quite often, think there is a few at the moment

also a few on ebay.com.

But yes they did stop making them (Sonic blue bought empeg for the technology and then killed there product )

That's very cheap - where did you get it?

Sony do a 10 Disc MP3 Changer. It is the CDX757MX, but is only available from the US. I have just got hold of one and will let you know how it is once I have installed it.

Look at http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=soncdx757mx&SVBName=279

I managed to ask a friend to bring it over for me, but I'm sure there is someone who dispatches overseas.

That sounds more like what I`m after, how much was it?

It varies between $165 and $200. But you need to add $30+ for shipping. If you convince the retailer to ship it, you will then need to pay a 3.5% customs charge, VAT, and a handling fee.

I reckon, all in all, it will cost approx £185. I asked a friend to purchase it from the above link and then he brought it back with him. I guess you could probably ask any of the BB users in the States to post it for you?

But Sony also make the CDX T70MX, which is a 6 disc MP3 CD changer and it retails for £200. I weighed it up and went for the US 10 disc model.

Installed this on Friday and have since driven around for about 6 hours. It sounds fantastic. Much more bass than the one installed by Nissan. I haven't tried MP3s in it yet though.
