Following on from Skeets thread for go-karting for the lads in the North, would Anyone be interested in a go-karting get-together for us lot way down in the south so we can all put names to faces etc? Just gauging interest at the moment as I am awaiting details back from the company.

It will probably be mid to end of Feb but I will firm up a date and cost when I know what sort of interest we have.

Looking at this place:

http://www.kartworld.ie/

Location

Track

If your interested in attending, just show your interest in the thread first off and we can go from there as to firming up dates etc.

cheers:thumbs:

It's watergrasshill where they do the drifting rounds sometimes. A bit bigger then rosegreen and great fun. Irishpaddy's been there before if I remember right.

i was there before.... the carts at the time were twin engined chain driven things... i kept loosing the back end cos they were SOOOOOOO quick....

at the time there was feck all rules as well... if you when off you pushed your cart back on and off you went again... great day out!

i'd be up for this as the girlfriends mams house to about a 10 minute drive from the track... so i have somewere to kip :D

Ya definetely up for it, I've been there loads of times and it's great craic. Last time i went in the pitch black and pissing rain and it was the best ever, backing them in on the brakes and trying to hold a drift is so much fun in the new carts!

Also, my friend's dad owns Kartworld and I can probably get us a group discount.... :)

A full grand prix is the way to go me thinks

Wookie
21-12-2006, 13:28
Just spoke to someone there and it's going to cost €630 for a full grand prix with up to 20 participants. Thats a 35min race and 15mins warm up time. Once I know how many deffinates we have I can then work out prices for members and non-members and then firm up a date.

JP
07-01-2007, 18:44
before or after January meet?

February meet! :whip: :sxoc:

I'd say after cause it's not really much notice if you want to get a big crowd going from counties that aren't local. Mind you, it'd give people something to look forward to in January if it was before it! :) (post-Christmas boredom etc! ;))

I vote January!

Im going to leave this until after the RRday/Meet in February and then firm up a date:thumbs:

OK, bringing this thread alive again, I know Wookie was doing some homework on this and putting together some plans... I'm thinking we should do this sometime in the next month....

I rang my friend who's dad owns kartworld and she said she would do us a deal on a grandprix session....

There's a couple of options for the grandprix, the best is; 10 min qualifying/practice session followed by 40 min grand prix. This option has the most track time.

The only snag here lads is we need no less than 12 people (15 preferably) for the session.

So, dates aside, can we get a show of hands of people that would be interested?

Update

Just adding a poll here to see what date you guys want this to take place. Due to prior commitments Im not going to be able to make it until the 28th April at the earliest, but I'll put an option in the poll if anyone wants it before then.

I am also looking at combining this with our first meet as the landowner of a proposed location still hasn't got back to me, so we can kill 2 birds with the same stone at this event:thumbs:

So all with their names down cast your vote:thumbs:

There doesn't seem enough people interested in doing a gp anyway, we need 13 minimum to book the track to ourselves.... I'm thinking just a regular karting session, that we could organise into some sort of race....

So i suggest a weekday evening grandprix or a weekend general session, whereby we judge the winners by fastest laps?

Saturday 16th June 2007 @ 15:00pm

The list below are the people who expressed interest. The Grand Prix is a 5min warm up and 35 minute endurance race or we could go for the heats then a final, but they said the endurance is better value for money. It cost's €700 to book the track for an hour so if we get 14 (max number) it will cost €50 per head. The less that come the more it's going to cost per person. To make the numbers up Im thinking of letting members bring a partner/or friend, but obviously members will have first refusal:thumbs:

We need to have deffinate "yes Im coming" otherwise it will leave the rest of us to pick up the additional cost.

Just to add, there's a maximum of 14 people for the Grand Prix. If we pass that figure then members will take the place of non-members on this list, sorry lads but that's the SXOC rules, as paying members get priority

Just to let you know that any deffinates that pull out at the last minute or do not turn up on the day will have their names added to this list http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=179669 as Im having to pay the deposit on my own Credit card, and as previously mentioned the less people we have then it will increase the cost for everyone else.

LETS GET IT ON!!!!!!!! :sxoc: :sxoc: :sxoc: :sxoc: :sxoc:

Wookie
17-05-2007, 10:15
Just to add, there's a minimum of 14 people for the Grand Prix. Members will take priority but they can accomodate up to 22-23 people.

So to clarify things (as I fecked it up my self). If we get the minimum and over of 14people it will be €50 per person, less than 14 then we will have to split the €700 track cost between us.

Everyone also needs to turn up by 14:30pm so that we can get organised:thumbs:

Also I spoke to the owner and it will be ok for us to have a mini-meet after the karting in the car park just to have a chat and look at the cars......oh and take the piss out of jp:D;):D

JP
18-05-2007, 01:49
Is it me or are there only 5 out of 12 people on that list actually from the South?? :wack: (Not including Brian in that one - He's ours! :p :D) Oh, & fxk might be able to make it along if the GTR is still running after his trip to the 'Ring!

Righto, I think I'm being handed the role of entertainment officer for Saturday evening - so here's a few suggestions, let me know what ye think!

After karting, we can either hang around Kartworld for a while or head straight back to Cork, and congregate in Eastgate Little Island, for a bit of a pose/nitter natter.

It'll be getting to dinner time then, so we could either eat at the KFC's or Pizza Hut thats there..................or we could head Kinsale for a nice bit of grub around the town and soak up some of Cork's Riveria atmosphere;)

The alternative is to head into Cork City but the parking situation there would be difficult.....

After grub, we park up the cars and get ready to go out, and i'm thinking if the weather is nice we could hit up the Franciscan well beer garden in town (they make their own beers, bit like the porterhouse for all you dubliners) and then take it down to a club or something.....

let me know what ye think and we can get organising

Wookie
13-06-2007, 13:56
Goodman Brian:thumbs: ;) Just to let you know we have the option of having a nitter/natter in the car park after the karting as the owner said it was ok:nod: and I want to take some photo's:D

Hows the weather holding down there? Raining a bit up here. What happens if it's bucketing down on the day (touching wood :) ) do they cancel?

Anyone heard of the Vee???

13-06-2007, 17:07
The alternative is to head into Cork City but the parking situation there would be difficult.....Jurys Inn out in Washington street have great safe underground parking thats public even though its not advertised and doesn't look like it, but it is, I use it when I'm up there for nights out.

Can we get some more feedback on what ye want to do afterwards......

Are any of ye planning to stay in Cork for the weekend? or interested in going on the piss sat night?

Muttly, that might be an option - what's the entrance like for nose / splitter scraping? - I've learned a whole new respect!!I can fit in with no problems. The only dodgy part is gonig over the bridge to get into Jurys, keep going pas tthe hotel and around to the left and then there the entrance to the underground parking.

Actually it'd be pretty cool for a few photos down there.

I would say more of a testiment to what letter your name starts with:annoyed: If My name was Andrew or Adam I would have started at the front of the grid and no-one would have got passed:no::D

It wasn't fair for you guys really as JP and myself got so much practice driving like lunatics on the way down that we were fully psyched up to lunatic mode when we got on the track.

Not even Irishpaddy's destruction of my karts steering ability (with that full speed broadside) held me back.
