View Full Version : Mapping lessons?
Would anyone be interested in mapping lessons?
I could cover theory of operation, how to get the most from the Power FC, SAFC, emanage, various boost controllers etc.
Just an idea at the moment - could do it at a rolling road with live demos, maybe.
Probably won't be that cheap but might be useful for some people?
Got some disclaimers ready? :wack: Sounds like a great idea though. One day I'd love to map my car :smash:

sounds like something id be interested in (price dependant obviously)
I'll be getting an SAFC & ITC delivered soon. On the hunt for a multichecker. Will probably get an AVCR or similar in a month or two. I have a few old laptops lying around, one of which could be kept stashed in the car for impromptu mapping sessions when bored.
So yes, I for one would definitely be interested :)
At the moment mapping my car consists of winding in the dawes device until something goes 'pop' :smash:
yeah id love to learn how to map...
Sounds like a good idea. :) Keep us informed.

Sounds handy indeed... especially as i'd be mapping my mini myself (megaquirt)
Jez, what about some sort of 'online theory course'? you could charge an amount and supply access to a built online course type thing for x amount of time.
I'd be interested in that, just for the theory perspective as its unlikely i'll ever map a car myself, but would really like to know the theory and workings behind it. Appreciate alot is by feel also and you wouldnt get the whole pic but still, might be useful :)
Jez, I'd be up for this. Theory in the morning, then a session at SRR afterwards would be good... I bet you'd easily get enough interest.
i want i want i want.... deferently up for this.... as im using the vems and all... trying to get her started today too

Good to see that people are interested. I'll have a think about the format of the day and see what would be best.
I like the idea of a theory / practical type setup.

any news/info yet jez?
:p
I would definately be up for this. I live in Shetland so travelling to the mainland to get the car set up after every modification isn't really a viable option.
I would like to have a list of relevant reading materials to wade through before the session so that most of the theory was covered prior to the day so that you could get the most out of the practical session.:)
I assume that once you get the hang of the fundamentals you can turn your hand to pretty much any aftermarket ECU / Fuel computer / Boost Controller?

Quite probably interested.
May be worth you writing a 'Jez Mapping Training Manual v1'! Or at least get some sort of documentation together before hand.
Might also be handy to get a rough idea of the level of each persons background knowledge too.
I would consider myself beginner, but have a reasonable background knowledge so should be able to keep up with the class!!
Cheers.

Is this happening ?
If so im interested.
I'm interested, is this going to be a fairly regular thing (i.e. you'll do a day whenever you get 10 or more people wanting a session) or just a one off event?
