View Full Version : yay I have an I.T. problem
here it is: Hit Windows-R (or go to start menu, click Run), and type in "www.sxoc.com" without the quotes. I would imagine most PC users out there will get Internet explorer auto load and navigate to that url.
Not me :'(
"can't find the file www.sxoc.com" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.
So I appear to have somehow broken the functionality that recognises things starting with www. as a web address and autostarting MSIE. Now if I prefix it with http:// it works fine, but out of habit I only start from www. and thus get errors.
Anyone seen this before and know the fix, before I start ripping through the registry and reinstalling stuff ?

Seen this somewhere before, I think that it has something to do with the IE routing engine. It needs 'http://' to define the protocall it needs. I think its on one of the IE 6 version, like if you just type www.google.com, it stalls, add http:// it works fine... oh I don't know, just lost myself
Anyway thats my shot, as I said it from my distant memory

Have a look on windowsupdate, or MSDN for know bugs within IE.
SI :)
Couldn't find anything on the support site ... had something that was close but was for XP and if you uninstall IE6 .
Fixed it by reinstalling IE6.. it skipped over nearly all the install, took about 3 minutes and rebooted, now it's fixed. excellent.

Sounds right, a dodgy version of IE :D :D Previous version knew that www routed though HTTP protocol, but IE has had more patches than frank bruno after 10 rounds with iron mike.

I'm restarting this thread.
I now can't remove the battery cover from my Sky+ Remote Control.
It looks pretty similar to the normal Sky digital remote.
There's a little button with an arrow printed on it on the back near the bottom. I've pushed it all over the place and pushed the whole rubber back section all around but nothing unclips.
Help, I need to change my batteries :(

Made up Microsft ? ;)
Si :)
I did it!
it kinda pinged off ...
it seems as if this little plastic bit 'hinges' onto something and requires a bit of force to make it come undone.

Well hello there old man!
How does it work at the moment? The video stream is saved direct onto disk, yeah? So are they planning on compressing the video for disk or compressing the original video stream being broadcast?
