The ref was asked "how long left?" he replied "10 seconds"
Ask yourself how long does it take a line out to form?
It was never going to happen, you cant blame the ref when you've only managed to get 30% of posession through the half.
Not sure of the logic of bringing an outside half back on who wasn't steady enought to kick at goal. Then take him off with 7 mins to go ( I thinkthats who Alfie replaced)
Ryan Jones played better today, but that doesn't say much. I dont think his head is right since he had the injury.
I should have said hello first as I dont usually come in here but they dont talk rugby in the scottish section.
every time I have heard the ref being asked how much time left they have said one of to thing....yes you have time to take the penalty or as soon as its dead it over......
on this occasion he did not say it would be over so he should have played the line out.....
Wales had to win the game..why else would Hook kick for the line..not lose the game thats for sure
how many times has a ref played mins a mins of extra time when the game should have ended long before

2 the 80 mins "shown" now includes stoppage time.

We more or less had the team that one the grandslam 2 years back on the field today. Whats the major difference....... the coaching team.
Maybe Mike Ruddock wasn't so bad.
Anyway enough of defending a ref, goes against the grain that.

at the end of the day the ref has the final say he can over rule any decision
I dont think he has any choice over the time aspect in the 6 nations.
He could have pinged the arse off the italians for their off the ball tackles etc but thats another story.

For what its worth i think we'll get stuffed, theres only one man in that squad who should be called captain and that Alfie. I'd leave Jones at outside half though, play blondie at No 8, drop Ryan Jones bring Charvis in, And put a bounty on Johny W's head.

win or not from that line out we or any team for that matter should have been able to play it
tbh we should have made the game safe well before the end..

I think the telling thing was the half time interveiw with the team manager, he didn't think it was a big deal, watching the replay i think the cut was caused during jones tackle not the punch. But the touch judge couldn't have known that all he would have seen ( should have seen) was the swinging arm, how he missed that I dont know. I think it was the same feller that missed the obstruction on morgan 2 yards from the line. Ref wouldn't have seen it touch judge should have.

That ref was a complete to55er I have never liked Chris White.....his eyes are up his ass!!! How he could do that at the end when we had an easy kick and could have easily drawn was so dissapointing!!
Still to draw with Italy doesn't say much for Wales, Ryan Jones was rubbish again!!! Popham was excellent as always, I really can't see why we are so poor at the moment!! James Hook was superb! made lots of breaks, made a try with a kick and kicked very well, the welsh Hooker Matthew Rees was man of the match in my opinion
