Yes please where do i get that i need one
What is it from m8? A Yank tank?
What about a V8 from a Range Rover as put into numerous kit cars etc. over the years? Just imagine it's cheaper??
More info please as I am bored and need something to occupy my imagination :D
Aye, that's a bit of a large one that - 6.02 litre V8 i think - a bargain at $3500 or thereabouts :D
Obviously I had a look at the 602 cubic inch big block but I think a near-10 litre engine may ruin the weight distribution of the car more than having scolding sitting in the passenger seat ;)
You'll have to see the ultima's engine when the wheels are back on the car, and thats around £10-12K's worth of Chevy ;)
Its in bits atm (car), and we are redesigning the endplates and mounting brackets for the carbon fibre wing we have made so I let ya know soon.....
What are ya gonna couple the small block too? A decent manual box that'll take the power aint exactly cheap ;)
DOnt put a Rover V8 in it, there no where near as cheap as a chevy to tune ;)

Well, it has a Chevrolet logo on top of it... :D
sorry, i beg to differ, use the rover v8, lovely little motor, all all, light as feck, shop around for second hand tuning parts and it wont be that dear, look in the hotrod mags, good place for bits, maybe a twin turbo even.......

Use the Chevy V8.
Much, much, much much cheeper in the long run. They are more reliable, cheeper to build, cheeper to rebuild, performance parts are cheeper, they're better on fuel etc. Rover/Buick/Oldsmobile V8's are a load of pants!
If weight is a problem, then use an Ally block one (only about an extra $2000).
Yeah go for the dart ally block.....well smart ;)
Use the force and the money from your new job to go for the Chevy ;)
You probably wanna ditch the mechanical water pump and get an electric one, as this will cool your engine better whilst its stationary. Also fit thermostatic leccy fans too, as these will save those little bits of power ;)

I have to agree with Jibber. Go for a Rover V8.
A Rover, errr okay you can have your 240 bhp.....
Or the 6 litre 350ish bhp out of the box (ready to run) Andy's looking at.....
Hmmm I wonder which ;)
hang on, hang on .. lemme see if I can make this work..
<bgsound src="http://homepages.zen.co.uk/zenadsl1994/andyf/sound.wav" loop="1">
He he nice one,
Sounds a bit gay though ;)
lol
Sound like its got the a flywheel the size of Devon!!!
The Ultima Makes that sound unbelievably gay....
The throttle response of it is as fast as you can move the throttle.
Basically theres no run down noise, the rpm just drops like a stone :D
Way better than a Rover and you'd get an engine guarantee with it and it would have already been dyno'd and jetted etc, hence Ready to run ;)
We did lots of research into this prior to our Chevy Purchase!!!

Ves,
Andy doesn't have a huge budget, also a Rover V8 would be a good choice for a swap due it its popular use in kit cars, there are many gearbox adaptors and its very well supported, and you can pick up a second hand 4.6 from Real Steel for £880.
V8's sound good but its nothing compared to the fantastic howl of a high power straight 6
I do realise this and this is why Andy is looking at the Chevy!!!!!!!!
Hence the usefull statment detailing that the crate engine he is looking at is:
1) READY TO RUN
2) CARBS HAVE BEEN SET UP AND JETTED CORRECTLY
3) COMES WITH THE ACTUAL DYNO PLOT FOR THE SETUP
4) WILL BE GUARANTEED, AND IF ANY PROBLEMS WILL ALSO PICK UP SHIPPING AS WELL AS FIXING IT.
5) TUNING PARTS ARE FECK ALL AND YOU NOTICE ANY SLIGHT CHANGE YOU MAKE.
6) PRESTON HAS A MASSIVE CHEVY HOTROD COMMUNITY SO HELP IS ALWAYS NEAR BY!
And there are so many gearbox adaptors for the Chevy!!!!!!
If hes on that much of a budget he wouldnt be looking at an engine swap now would he :p
Well all he has to do to get the throttle response is by a CNC lightened and reinforced crank, a lightened and balanced fly wheel and a decent harmonic balancer, which wont cost a lot in real terms ;) SOmething fo the winter ;)
Woah, I'd completely forgotten about the Preston meets - some fine cars turn up there :D (must say, the Viper turnout seems to have declined but then they're V10's innit)
The "howl" of a straight six is lame compared to a decent V8!
By the way Andy, most American crate suppliers will be able to supply you with the relavently dated block so engine emission control can be thrown out of the window....So you can have straight throughs if your man enough ;)
Oh yeah and if your giving it loads, HUGE FLAMAGE!!!!!!!
