View Full Version : DC5 teggys
My brother is in the market for a new car - hes currently rocking a 172 clio, which although wicked, is starting to show signs of age now. He considered a megane 225 (too pricey), doesnt really fancy a Type R Civic or any of that bunch, and was a bit stuck until I suggested a DC5 Teg. He likes :D
Anyone give me some info on where to find them, what kind of money to pay etc.?? Any sexy pics would be appreciated as well - if he buys a teggy I can drive it :D

£18,500 for an '06 facelift, so the DC5 should be coming down in price, hard. Probably less than 10k.

DC5s are fast!!! Much faster than CTRs/172s etc. If I had the money Id love one as an NA Hack!

err.... not really. 217bhp versus 197 in the ctr, same gearbox & slightly heavier. They're quicker but not exactly by much. It would be down to the drivers - missed gearchange, or buggered launch would completely stuff a drag against each other

Hmm, interesting. The only evidence I have of DC5s being a lot faster is the ones ive encountered on the road. Ive played with a few DC5s, and a few CTRs, and the CTRs are slow in comparison.

I think Youll Find the Civic Prefacelift without A/c is just as fast as a stock DC5, Its the lightest and is apparently 0.2 secs faster to 60, Mine was in comparison ,very quick, was in red though so maybe thats why:wack: , And when i played with it it obviously Would Have them, But anyhow, there is a video of the CTR vs The DC5 TegR being tested together on a track, the CTR wins, but, its a JDM spec, wich means Both Cars have the K20a Engine in, About 217 to 225bhp, over here we get the lame, K20a2 with 197bhp, and the Type s has the,(u gessed it) K20a3, 160bhp, So the Civic being the Lighter just wins.
I think with same driver, in time battles the JDM TegR will Beat a Euro CTR Round a Track, Especielly the Facelift, and the New Latest model. I will Try and get the link of the above test i mentioned...
Would definitely like to see that

but the DC5 is a proper sports car and the CTR is a 3 door mpv, no contest really

as you say this is comparing two jdm cars, however the ctr is a little heavier than the dc5, ive seen this bmi vid, and it doesnt win by a great deal! these cars are so evenly matched that had the teg been in front its doubtful the ctr would have gotten past either

dont think it mate, its a definate!!:D

I don't 'get' DC5's, perhaps i'm missing something:
I love DC2's, and was under the impression their 'raison d'etre' was to be a lightweight, nimble, hardcore fast road/track car.
To me it seems like the DC5 is heavier, and more 'comfortable', defeating half the object of the car. Am i missing something? I'm not being argumentative, i just genuinely don't understand, it seems to contradict what i thought was the philosophy of the 'teg.
oh, and it looks lardy :wack:
I'd love a champ. white DC2 though :smitten:
Meh, he decided against the Teg and bought a Denzil Seat Leon instead :(
To be fair he has a longer drive to work now and is averaging 55 mpg, but Id still rather he got a Teg
Thats a bit poop about the Leon :( Just my belated 2p though - My experiences on the road put the DC5 as being noticably faster than a CTR :)
Dunc.

saw a nice blue one today, sounded really nice:nod: (a dc5 that is:D)
The Leon has grown on me over the few days its been parked outside the house though - its quick (60-90 is funny :D), comfy, nice looking and economical
But it just isnt JDM Tyte :(

the dc5 is weight saved everywhere you could think - it hasnt got any sound deadening at all and it has stiffening bars everywhere, my mate has one and it is a pretty amazing car
