Hi guys,
This lad at work has been chatting to me cause he like's my car, well who wouldn't :D :D
Anyway he's been telling me how his mate has fitted a 100bhp NOS kit to his Z3 2.8. He reckons it can now wheel spin at 70mph, is he talking cr*p?????
Si :)
If not then his mate is now the fastest hairdresser in the world! :D

The standard car is I think 170 Bhp so if you add the 100 shot of NOS thats only 270'ish BHP. Has anyone on here ever managed to spin there wheels at 70Mph?
Si :)
I have, in the (very) wet in 3rd... doesn't happen very often though...

I believe it in principle, whether he has done it I don't care, but I reckon an instant 100bhp would spin the wheels. It's the instantaneousness (LOL, what a word) that would make it break traction.
Depends if he's got Avon ZZ-1's fited or not... and if they're at 55psi each
If he can, there's something wrong with it's tyres! Or it's snowing ;)
I cetainly can't drop a cog at 70 and spin the wheels, but then I have proper, manly, 245 width rear tyres :D
Does he mean spin up through first and second to an indicated 70 (while barely moving forwards)?

He's probably exaggerating a bit - maybe at 60MPH. I once had an XR2 and that could easily spin in third when it was damp. However, it had to be spinning in second first and a fast gear change was needed. If he rekons that it spins in the dry just off the power then he's talking sh*te, but if he's talking dumping it then it may well be true.

Yes I've felt the back end going at about 60-70. Can't remember exactly how but the boost tends to come in very aggressively on occassions...
Nitrous is a different story as its like an on-off switch (unless you have a progressive kit) so like Jezz said thats whats going to get you wheelspin (and a blown engine if he's not careful ;) )

yep in my last s14 auto just b4 doing 360 into crash barrier, hit kickdown and then it just went, and that was totally standard, twas raining though
Just span mine at 70... in the wet...when I hit a bump!
A friend's old Lotus Horizon used to spin though the gearbox up to 90mph. It used to leave 400m of black rubber with 10 yard breaks for the gearchanges!

'blown engine if he's not careful' that is quite try, apprently he has gone though the 100Bhp bottle in just over a week!!!! Oh yeah then came the performance storrys how the NOS is like an afterburner on his car, 'Just pull pust the button and everything becomes a blur'
I think he's just a NOVA boy but with a bit too much money
Si :)

Well... I notice a few things about the Z3 that I havent seen posted. The Z3 has a very short wheel base ... which makes for easier wheelspin. The Z3 also is light... even more wheelspin. The Z3 also has independent rear suspension... more wheelspin.

I hope you meant Lotus Sunbeam as the thought of a Horizon, scrab, scrab, scrabbling it's merry way round country lanes at 100mph and toppling over just doesn't bare thinking about.

I used to wheel spin at around 60 in third with a std S13, but the rear tyres we total ****e and almost bald, so that explains it!
Since then i've only managed to spin at around 40 in 2nd, but i have shiny new typres now!
If they're 'shiny' new tyres, you need to replace them, surely? :D
My old Uno Turbo would spin the wheels in 4th when it was damp or wet. But it was running 18psi with not the best front tyres.
My Cossy would light up the rear tyres in third in the wet just by planting the throttle and that will have been at a good 70mph. Again, cr@p tyres though, Avon ZZ1s!!
Err, yeah...Sunbeam! My bad!
Recently been out in my Girlfriend's dad's Saab 9-3 (2.3l turbonutter) - managed to spin a little, then just kept on with a sh1tscary pendulum motion that just wouldnt go away w'out slowing down. Mind u I'm in Sweden over xmas & the roads are really icy (was -10 here the other day)
ps me mum managed to roll her talbot horizon a few years back... wot a bucket of utter ba11sweat that car was. Best thing u could do to it imo...!:)

I love the sound of Bouncy FWD Rubbish leaving acres of rubber all over the shop!:p
Just as long as it's not mine (Punto) that's ok.
