Hi, didn't realise you had your own section now!

Anyway, got a bit of a problem.

The car in question is a 1996 Toyota Celica ST202 SS-II (2.0 16v 3S-GE engine) JDM import, and as it has SuperStrut suspension it has larger 2-pot calipers on the front, which the UK GT doesn't have.

I bought discs, pads & caliper rebuild kit from Brakes International, and everything was fine, except for the pads being the wrong shape.

The contact are was fine for the disc but where the old ones were straight along the bottom, the new ones were curved. This was OK on the front of the caliper, but at the rear, due to the overhang the new pads fouled on the caliper bracket.

The pads supplied were Nipparts J3602060 if that's any help, and all dimesnions seem fine, apart from the carrier tabs need slight filing and the fact that the are curved at the bottom rather than straight across.

Any chance you can help me out with some standard pads that will fit!!

HI Hallsy

Is there any chance of a photo of the pads? I'll cross reference it from there :)

Yes mate, I have a photo at home comparing original pads to new ones that were wrong.

Obviously I have contacted the company that supplied me but I'm just trying to sort out alternatives if they can't help me.

I'll get a pic up when I get home

Here we go:

picture a bit dark, but on the left is the pad I removed from the car, and righthand one is the ones that were sent to me but are wrong.

Dan, heard back from brake parts this morning and they suggested that it looked like a '92- MR2 pad, had a look at site and it does indeed look correct - have heard that these 2-pots were similar to MR2 ones but ours have bigger pistons I think.

Reckon that looks right?

Hi Hallsy

I have checked the catalogues, but they don't look like MR2 ones either :(

I'll get the paper copy of the manual and go through the toyota's pages page by page :)

Ah right, I'll try to link to the parts that brake parts think are right:

I had the same problem for when looking for pads for a 94 ST202 GT Import. I got given the wrong pads as well. There are a few different types you can get, I think the ones that fitted were for a Toyota Carina or something rediculous like that:rolleyes:
