View Full Version : Another one joins the clan !
Picked up my first 200sx last night after hunting for the right one for a month and travelling most of the south and midlands !
Got a white J reg manual (just got to tax it and insure it in the week).
However it needs a few bits doing such as boot rust and door locks (theiving scum).
Should be a nice little project over time.
Just quickie while im here (and ive searched :D ) - I take it by putting the rear end off the ground and spinning one wheel I can tell if it has a LSD or not :
Both wheels spin the same way = LSD
Anything else = No LSD
Am I right
Anyway - hi and be gentle :sxoc:

On an off topic, ian19blue, the staff in you avatar is soo cool, I want another one! :(
hiya ! :D
as far as i'm aware LSD means that if one wheel stop turning the other can still turn freely whereas no LSD would mean if one wheel stops turning they both stop turning .

The other way round. An LSD prevents one wheel from spinning freely on its own, i.e. prevents the inside wheel spinning up on hard corning (as the weight shift occurs). Mean you can get the power on earlier having an LSD (and its essential for drifting).
Bear in mind there are different levels of slip. i.e. 25% slip = one wheel can spin 25% faster than the other. This is essential for day to day driving. If they always spin at exactly the same rate you have a locked diff. Not sure what a standard slip ration for a 200SX is...possibly 40%??
