View Full Version : 9 Cars needed!!!

This is a copy of an e-mail I have received from the 200plus club who organised the 10 of the best event last year. I need 9 of the most powerful 200's that who be willing to do our club proud. Mods this may need to be one of them sticky type posts.:-

hi
just a quick note to see if you would be happy to arrange your club/group
entry list plus reserves for our 2003 event?
we are launching the event at Autosports NEC show, but the format and event
will be as per last year, with a few tweaks if required.
we have booked the venue again at Elvington, for the first weekend in
August. there will be one full test day, in june, with full set up and
timing as per the actual event as well.

Clubs and Groups who took part will be invited back, along with a couple of
others possibly, but we are aiming at a similar entry standard to last year.
Your own club /group Entry lists can be sorted throughout next year, uptil
june, but for now i am just looking to hear if you are happy to co-ordinate
again, or would like to take part?

Hope to hear from you soon,
merry christmas.

Count me in, where's Elvington?;) ;)

i should be up for that and up to 400+bhp by then;)

bren

I should also be knocking on 400bhp by then, or by the end of Feb at this rate, along with a completely defunct bank account  :D

well I’ll be there what ever happens, would be nice to take part as part of this club, won't have 400bhp by then but would hope to do well around the sprint track. Count me in if there’s space.

I think they should have more classes like 2.0 and under etc etc so the skylines don't just run away with ALL the glory! Great to watch would just be nice to think you're in with a chance at something.

Paul_S13

I'll be around the 400bhp level at that time.

hi!
we will be running classes as per last year:
fwd
rwd
4wd

for each activity: 500m sprint, top speed, handling.

in addition we are looking for sponsorship of all sub groups, for their own prizes/trophy
ie fastest 200sx etc etc.

there are also trophies for fastest jap car.

in the rwd class you will be up against:
cossys, vipers, supras, etc etc.

any mods are allowed, the more the merrier. there is nothing to stop each club using the event as thei own competition day also, if they wish to do so.

we cant at the minute envisage classes based on engine cc's , as we cannot actually pull apart engines to check people aren't cheating, as you can imagine.

hope to see some top 200sx's at the event!
we have a test day in june at elvington as well.

merry christmas!

Why not have a rolling road and a 1/4 mile event to decide on the 9

have to say it was a fantastic day last year, so wish i had given it ago (turned up in supra instead)

what does BHP matter (as skidz proves), prove your self on 1/4, TSC3 and on the track. If there is too many people wanting to run by all means its a good idea to have a contest to see who's 'good enough' i guess thats why they are doing a test day in june.

last year this BB couldn't get 10 people who wanted to go some one tried to sort it but was no real interest. At least it seems people will want to go this year.

The DVD of the day is good too :D :D

hi Bren!
dropped out of 200sx purchase, and couldnt find a mint cond purple car for modding, so ive gone for a modded GT4 in the end, but i would like to see some 200sx 's at next years event, as i think they could do well.

we are running it at 0-500m again, slightly longer than a standing 1/4. this was felt to be best test for 2wd against 4wd, and a few of the rwd cars did very well, and my mate andy actually won the fwd and 2wd class shootouts in his maestro.
the winning 2wd time for 500m drag was 13.9s 119mph
the fastest rwd time was actually in qualifying at 12.7s 137mph, which is absolutely mad, being Leons supra.

the rwd handling was quite an open class, with a couple of vipers doing well, but a lot of people concentrated on rwd drag and top speed rather than handling.

rwd top speed winner at 1.25m was Leon with the supra, 185mph.

dont be put off by these times, a lot of the supras and vipers were not as quick as those monsters, and were running 14-15s drag times and 160-175mph top speed.
the 500m dash gives the rwd and fwd class a fair chance as its not all about traction off the line as with 1.4 mile.

overall tho a skyline blitzed the lot on the day, 11.7s 142mph 500m, 196mph top speed.

there are a lot of people preparing cars for next season to have a crack.
you could quite easily have your own inter club shootout based on the days timed runs also, for a bit of extra thrill.
and there will be plenty of spectating going.

Richie has agreed to look after your team, so please support him by having a go at the event.
if you can't get a full team of 10 cars, don't worry, but 5 -6 is really the minimum reqd.

Nice car, I always facied a GT4 :)

And I think you under estimate the SXOC, I doubt there would be problems getting ten cars there as I know of several cars that are under going serious tunign development at the moment.

The SXOCs cars have moved on a long way since this time last year ;)

Thinking about it by June there should be:

Ninja
Papa
Richie
Gary
Yodi
Myself
Colin Gibson
Andy Bird
Skidz
Fatty
Faster
Kev
Jez
Jezz
Hayley
Barry
Dan
Ben
Paul
Etc

bren- i hope so, would love to see a full field of 200sx's.

the gt4 crowd backed out last year also, i'm hoping this time round a few take part
i'm gonna have my work cut out running the event, might not be able to drive mine on the day, but prob let my mate andy launch it on the drag runs. i would have a crack at the handling if i get time!

hoping to see some top 200s then!

I was at 206@wheels b4 my problems, id hope for maybe another 20-30 more, but there are alot more guys on ere running alot more power.

Having said that, id defo be up for it if ur lacking numbers, and point 2 above is true.

More info:-

hi Richie
its going to be £85 per car, which is still cheap for a trackday, and all
entrants also get a copy of the event on dvd or video afterwwrds. i don't
know if you have seen this years, but its professionally produced and i've
been complimented on it by loads of people.
the event will also be the best gathering of modded cars racing each other
in the calendar, so i feel its decent value for money.
we charged £70 last year, to cover costs only. this year we have 2 days hire
to cover of the venue, as we need saturday to set it all up, thus doubling
our costs, but we are planning on some sponsorship deals, and hence keeping
cost of entry down.

i hope to see your beast and some nice sx's taking part next year.
you can draw up teams and sort out their payment for say may/june, no rush
as yet, but if you are launching a 200sx club team then i will confirm your
team place and get the name up on the website early in the new year.

hope to hear from you soon.

by the way, i've not ended up with a 200sx in the end, couldnt find a purple
one with low miles in vgc, and was then offered a 340bhp GT4, which i
hopefully pick up tomorrow!
best regards and thanks for all the help, much appreciated

chris

Right ppl as you can apprieciate there is going to be a lot of competion for these 10 spaces that we have available to us so what do we as a club think is the best way to sort out these places. Bearing in mind it is a racing/drag event, the cars will need just a bit of poke and then some. A few names have been listed already and I don't want to discount any of them. I will be attending the practice session in the June as this may be a bit of help as I didn't attend the event last year. Anybody wanting more info on this can contact me the usual way and I will put up constant updates as and when received.
Cheers Richie

I think this is a good idea - a RR shootout with something to aim for!

I hope to be 400bhp+ by August next so if theres a space available I'll probably be up for it :)

I'm up for it but I don't know if I'll have all my mods done by then.

I should be getting close to 300bhp though.

Take mine up the pod quite often and have managed 1/4 mile in 15 sec but that was in standard trim.

Perhaps we could go to a rwyb to decide who gets to go.

Any chance the will be a doughnut competition.:D :D :D :D ;)

chris200+
21-12-2002, 21:56
my mate andy would win any donut eating comp!
lol

the handling course is only a short twisty sprint circuit, probably 50-55secs max, but tricky enough to sort the men out from the boys (or gals)!

we worried it was maybe biased towards small tircky handling cars last time, but the fastest 2 cars were a cossy escort and ronnies skyline r33. the rwd class was won by a fisher fireblade , road legal etc, but the vipers also did well for big heavy brutes

richie will look after "team 200sx" i'm sure, but anyone from overseas who may want to take part can email us.
we had a guy come over from france, and 2 from ireland last time.
theres a guy with a 450+bhp GTIR coming also from holland!

This is what I like to see good friendly competition. The RR day sounds a good thing I also have a few tricks up my sleeve like another TSC in the April/May time where the top 10 200's could make the team as this is what some of the TOTB events are (500m sprint and top speed). We would also get a good gauge of the competition as next year I will publicize the event in a few of the Jap mags and hopefully Ronnie wont be away and Simon Norris may have finished his project.

TAC
22-12-2002, 22:01
I'm sorta with Richie - as well as the RR competition you need some sort of track event to check that people can handle the power. Not dissing anyone's abilities btw :)

Mad Man Dan
23-12-2002, 18:00
I doubt very much that I will have enough power to represent the SX's up the strip, particularly as there seems to be a '400bhp+ club' developing in the sxoc ;) . However, I would be VERY interested in having a bash at the handling course. I reckon the mighty S13 could teach the Vipers, etc, a thing or two round some short twisties... particularly with 4WS. ;)

I'd put my name forward, but there are some far more powerful cars out there (mind you I did pretty well at the TSC II for the 1/4 times :D)

But defo be up for another TSC and/or RR day (really would like to find out what I get HP wise now)

Kuddy
31-12-2002, 13:13
Yeah I'd be up for that definitely but there's far more powerful cars about if they want to get thrown into the hat first.

I managed to be involved last year by default because my mate Stu's Pulsar was a bit fecked so I took his place (in the 4WD class in the 200sx!!).

Best time was 0-500m 15.90 @ 103mph
and then it got slowly worse!

My 1.5 mile final speed was 143.2mph
all whilst running at a paltry 10-12psi.

Although this year I've probably got another 40hp on top of that.

Richie, was gonna speak to you about a TSC3 for around May?june time. Any chance you can get us timed at 1/4mile and 500mtrs. Just thinking that people would like to know 1/4's and then we'd all like to know 500mtr times ready for TOTB2. Oh, and top end speeds too if poss?

Dyno day sounds good, but I don't think it should be used for TOTB2 qualifying as it's more about puting the power down on the track than how much hp you're running.

Once the top 10 cars are sorted, if anyone that didn't make the TSC3 day wants to lay claim on a space already occupied by someone, I'd say they need to produce a 1/4mile timing slip (possibly several to show consistency?) for us to compare with the 10 entrants and see where it fits in.

Just my thoughts.

we are still looking at whether to run it at 0-500m again, or do 1/4s.
(cant time both those distances plus top speed and handling!)

we did 500m as fairer to 2wd against 4wd, and i think it worked ok, but a lot of people have asked for 1/4s so they can compare directly.

i'll open it upto feedback from you guys?

supra owners have been asked same also

1/4 miles are fair, have a look at the 1/4 mile time sheet on the links rear wheel drive seems to do rather well, all depends how you get away.
