Just thought I'd post this up to see other peoples opinions on it as I am thinking about going for this sometime this year.....
Courses will be taking place on the following dates:
26 and 27 April
26 and 27 July
13 and 14 September
The format of the event is designed to be informal and entertaining as well as educational. We take care of the hotel arrangements to enable everyone in our group to meet up the evening prior to the circuit training and enjoy a meal together. Accommodation is at the Teirgarten Hotel which is owned and operated by our senior instructor Sabine Schmitz (of Top Gear fame) mother, so you can be assured of a warm welcome! The hosted dinner is in the famous motor racing themed Pistenklaus restaurant situated in the basement of the hotel.
The theoretical part of the training, which you have to do if you want to obtain a German National A licence commences at 2pm and runs through to approximately 7pm, the course is held in German however there are text books in English provided which will enable you to follow the speaker word for word. There are also two translators constantly on hand. There are however certain formalities you have to comply with if wish to obtain the licence which involve additional expense and some inconvenience, if you wish to go down this route please let us know and we will send you further details.
The fun part of the training, which is open to anyone with a regular driving licence commences early the following morning and comprises of two hours guide driving, during which small groups consisting of a maximum of five participants of similar experience follow one of our trainers around the circuit changing their position within the ‘convoy’ each lap ensuring that every trainee takes their turn directly behind the lead car. All members of each group are connected by radio with their instructors’ car who is constantly giving advice on the correct line for each corner whilst also pointing out various marker points around the circuit which are not easily visible to the untrained eye. After the guide driving finishes we have another four hours free lapping with an open pit lane during which time our instructor team is available for one to one instruction to help you fine tune what has previously been learnt.
During the entire training period the circuit is reserved exclusively for this purpose and obviously the utmost attention is paid to the safety of participants all of whom are expected to wear helmets at the very least. Most cars are suitable; they do not necessarily have to be road legal but must obviously be in a ‘track worthy’ condition and comply with the circuits noise limit. Towing eyes must be in place to enable any vehicle that should break down or run out of fuel to be removed to a place of safety quickly.
We have a number of track prepared vehicles available from a cost of £375.00inclusive of the German equivalent of VAT and fuel to include the guide driving session and up to ten laps of free driving. If you would like to reserve one of these please let us know as soon as possible and we will send you further details.
Once the circuit training has finished we return to the nearby Teirgarten for a well earned beer and presentation of your course certificate.
The cost of the training including the theoretical training, one night accommodation with breakfast, the hosted dinner in the Pistenklaus, the time on track and of course the services of our team of instructors is £595. We require a deposit of £100 with the balance payable in full no later than fourteen days prior to the commencement of the course. Unfortunately there is no reduction should you decide not to participate in the theoretical aspect of the course.
