There are many many mods to increase your BHP - but what can be added to boost torque figures?

BOOST :)

ahhhhh
is it really that simple?

power = torque x revs

so if you increase power throughout the rev range (not just by raising the rev limit), you increase torque too.

Power is a direct consequence of torques and revs...

Although the torque figure and amount relative to the power figure can be manipulated by various things which I can't be arsed to explain - port length, squish, bore dimensions, valve overlap, exhaust cam timing relative to inlet timing, ignition curve, use of air restrictors, blah blah blah

My advice is to forget torque completely. Just think about power curves and remember it's not just the peak figure that matters but also the height of the curve at other points in the rev range.

Honda did that... and look where it got their Civic... eek

Forget about torque?

Impossible - without torque, life is meaningless.

That's just the point, it produces an impressive peak power figure but if you compare bhp at 3000, 4000 & 5000 revs, the 200SX will be streets ahead in every case.

Well Honda made their cars rev longer - the Type R engines carry their torque further up the revs. Shorten the gears and you have a faster accelerating car. Nothing wrong with that.

i hate the civic T-R... sorry...

Unfortunately for your argument, the Civic Type-R is selling rather well in the UK at the moment

My mums got a chipped Civic V Tec and Im not exactly a fan. You have to rev the nads off it to get it going, although once the revs are up its pretty quick. I like more midrange punch, even if it does mean a lower rev limiter.

Cubic capacity. Go for an oversize rebore or stroker kit.

Hey, there's as many women as there are men buying cars ;)

Good point. Many of the men buying cars seem to use the same criteria as women these days, too judging by the number of blokes in MX5's MGF's etc.

It may well be, but having driven it up against most of its competitors, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole...

I'd trather have an Ibiza Cupra any day... That sodding Honda... I thought it was going to explode AND it felt unsure of itself on the road...
