It's Ant who's put up this site cos he's got too much time on his hands :D

Seriously, some people find offence in anything. I suppose the makers of the film should consider themselves lucky that the bozos behind this site haven't issued a Fatwa against them:rolleyes:

Personally I think it was really insensitive of JRR Tolkein to call the second book ' The Two Towers'...... I mean really   !

You'd think for a start they'd call themselves the right name! I'm sure the World trade centre was known as the twin towers and not the two towers.....
Have these people nothing better to do  .

"The creators of the movie have free speech, so what makes you think they should have to change the name of the movie?

We believe that Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema's actions are in fact hate speech. The movie is intentionally being named The Two Towers in order to capitalize on the tragedy of September 11. Clearly, you cannot deny the fact that this falls under hate speech. We believe that if they will not willingly change the name, the government should step in to stop the movie's production or to force a name change."

What a bunch of muppets.

Er, yeah, that's right, it wasn't named after the book which was written before the twin towers were even built. No.

That wasn't it at all.

Now maybe if the twin towers had been called Minas Ithil and Minas Tirith :D :D

Oh but didn't you know - Tolken had foreseen the Twin Towers being built and the events of Sept 11th. He also knew that a film based on this book he was writing was coming out, so thought he'd cash in on it.

I can't wait to see it.

Have they changed this one much from the book? I read that Faramir was going to try and take the ring in the film.

As for people complaining. I swear that some people are only happy if they have something to complain or protest about. Soon we won't be able to wipe our asses unless we do it according to European standards.

Some people need to get a life.

Funny you should say this. Apparently Tolkien sold the film rights for LOTR for a pittance scoffing at the possibility that anyone would ever want to make a film of it.

DOH!

Well, this pissed me off enough to email them ...

"First off,

I was horrified when I saw the televised footage from September 11th. Something
that will stay with me for the rest of my life. My condolences go out to anyone
who lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy. I donated money to many organisations
after hearing about them, but I DO NOT agree with what you are saying on your website.

If anything this comes across as a poor way to gain recognition for yourselves for doing
something perceived as "right". The book was called "The Two Towers" so the film is also
called this. Im sure Tolkien didn't name his book this on purpose!!! ;)

David Stretch"

Just awaiting the reply now :D

Perhaps they are trying to remove any reference to the incident so they can say it never happened? Seem's to be the way the civilised world handles similar situation's, "Oh no we mustn't make a film about war/terroism/rape etc, because it will offend someone" when all it does is create the illusion that the world is a warm fluffy place to live in and nothing bad ever happens.

Whatever their reasons for doing, they certainly seem misguided.

Your a brave man Dave.... they'll have you down as an Al Qaida sympathiser.
If your message gets to John Wayne.... I mean Mr Bush, Tony will have you hung drawn and quartered :D :D :D
Jonny

PS. I saw the movie on Wednesday night and it was fooking brill :D . Slight differances from the book but they only serve to make the film even better! Treebeard is fantastic ;) .

Aaah ******** to em. They're just a bunch of winging tw&ts. Did you see this ...

"Do you people seriously think you'll be successful?

We most certainly do. Several of our members were already successful at making 20th Century Fox delay the movie "Phone Booth" due to the Maryland sniper attacks."

MY GOD! They only do this to cause trouble, bunch of idiots!

First off the attack on America was obviously a terrible thing, but these feckwits make it hard to keep on having sympathy for the subject of the 11th.

These lame bar-stewards should do some charity work or something if they want to start feeling better for themselves and raise some money for the affected families.

That site's really pissed me off! It's not as if any part of the film contains elfs flinging themselves at two great towers in large commercial aircraft:mad:

I'd mail them to rant, but when a whole nation has no sense of irony what's the point. ****ers!!!!!!

yeager

Sorry if there are any Americans on this board, i do not intend to offend you, only your ridiculous government and policies.

but

If America didn't see Sept 11th coming, then what a bunch of fools they were, it was a wakeup call in a long time coming. However, it was a terrible wakeup call and I do not condone it in anyway.

I'm sick to death of the stupid attitude Americans are taught to adopt, they think that Iraq brainwashes their people... take a VERY hard look at yourselves...

The website posted here simply proves that in every way possible. What sort of idiot takes offence to a movie based on a book written a LONG time before this act of terroism...
