I am free that weekend & have a small BBQ I am willing to donate for the day/evening - will need someone with a van to transport it though ;)

Because we'd need to cover the beach in them to feed this lot :wack:
JC, good call! Anyone got a van/large estate car?
SussexSX
28-02-2007, 16:47
I can sort the van/ estate ill steal a car from work will be no problem just to check will this BBQ fit in a Grand Cherokee???:D
Erm, probably not big enough for this particular BBQ!
It's also in Heathrow and I see your in Brighton which is a long round trip for someone already living near the beach!

It might do if you fold all the seats down & I remove the legs & wheels (only a few bolts & easy to put back on at the beach).
The only problemis,as others have pointed out,I am in Middlesex near Heathrow Airport so it would mean a couple of lengthy trips for you! :wack: .

hi i live in worthing, ive got an old oil drum bbq have fed 50 or so people off it before also have a tranny tipper to bring it. the s13's off the road at the mo so dont mind driving the tranny.let us know chaps
How much charcoal will it need? :D
normally stick a bag in at a time it last about an hourish. the self lighting stuff seems to work pretty good.
also must add dont mind cooking but its not a strong point:hurl:  . possibly may be able to get hold of 2
Mr D, just checking that you're still ok to provide the BBQ?
Don't worry about cooking, that won't be a problem ;)

if this is still about, i'll come along! ;) Sounds like a good event!
A postcode might enable us to find out for ourselves!
Id be up for this I reckon - what time would this be kicking off? Is it a case of bring your own grub to be cooked ?
Cheers :)
went and had a look today and i reckon that parking is going to be an issue in the place in the pics. its all been changed to permit holders and pay and display so gonna be a bit of a pain. Also i think that its a 'non bbq section' :indiff:
do think i know another place we can have it though. ill investigate after work 2morro and let ya all kno
Cheers Matty
Bring grub allexjj :D
What time to people fancy meeting? I'd imagine midday or thereabouts.
Not 100% sure if i'll make it but i'll try - got too much Uni work on at the minute!:annoyed:
Depending on what time you all decide to meet i may pop over. Oh and i might bring a camera to get some pics to stick up on the board:thumbs:
Hope the weather is better than it has been lately
hi all,
i think i kno a decentish place
its just along the seafront road if you carry on east bound along the seafront road til u come to a big roundabout with a sealife centre infront and the brighton pier on the right u take the 3rd exit and it takes you down a strip of road. think this is where the jap meets are on a monday mornin normally!
i was thinkin we could prob do it some place down there. i think around half way down there is a section where u can get onto beach/pebbles etc to take bbq on and off. AND there is tonnes of space for parkin :D
anyone else has a better idea jus say n i'll shut up lol
matt
EDIT: and yea im game for middayish
Can you do a map or Google Earth link Matty? I think I know where you mean but lots of others might not :)
yea i shouldb able to no probs
the last one didnt come out to well so ill do a link if i can:)
ok did a lil bit of artwork on the old laptop lol
c if this helps:

lol, as far as i kno its quite a bit further along and is very unpopular nowadays. parking wise what i may do is jus go down at like 9 am wiv a couple of mates and cordon off loads of spaces n hope they dont get taken :D na i think it will b ok (i hope)
Will b great if all them people come some gd pics to be had i should imagine too
bugger! sold my 200sx! can i borrow someones lol?
just rememberd about this, got pmed lol:wack:
Should still ba able`to make this:nod:
is every one else still game:confused:
im definately still game.. should b badass
Is this definitely still on?
Madeira Drive is the drag strip  right near the pier and right on the seafront, in fact it's nearly on the beach :)
Pretty sure it's owned by the local residents so not sure if we'll get kicked off for having a BBQ
Doesnt look like it, the weather is going to be crap and iv spoke to a few people on the list who are going to give it a miss:cry:
An alternate venue for a bit of grub and a drink would be handy in case of iffy weather :)

Looks like i'm going to spend most of the day doin Uni work:ghey: :annoyed: ...but will try and come over for a bit as its not too far:sxoc:
mayb if its crap weather a pub or sommit may b best suited?
or delay it for a week or so?
dunno bout that tho Parker thats your call mate lol

A pub with a decent sized car park would be a good idea. Any suggestions?
could do it in southampton, portsmouth or somewhere like that
I think the Southampton meet covers that area mate :p We need to get some meets going in other areas and I fancy a decent drive :D
I know the Jap club that have their meets on monday nights tend to go to the brighton marina if the weather is/gets bad. Its got a few pubs and loads of place to park. Mind you its a mulit story---but if i can get up and down most of you lot should be ok (with some careful driving).
How much clearance have you got under your front bumper?
Am bailing out, if weather is shi'ite
Shame we werent on for the same weather as we have been having - late 20's in london, urgh tubes... grrr
the bottom of my exhaust knos that multi story very well lol
my mate in his lowered honda civic scrapes as he goes down each level, though he has now worked out that if he floors it wen he gets to it it doesnt. ANYWAY lol, the marina is a gd place to go but the only other place to park down there is the asda bit but i think it has just been enforced with a parking limit of 2 and half hours!
Ill have a think n see if i can come up with anythin else just incase we decide not to go marina
Mine does not touch....just a bit narrow on the ramps :ghey:
yea asda charge for parking--unless u shopping
tut how:ghey:
how much is urs lowered? mine is 35mm but exhaust is pretty low think its an apexi n jus scrapes as i go over it.
Is this still happening? I was going to come down but looking at the weather im not so sure
Is there a contingecy plan if the bbq gets rained off?
I just got back home from brighton and the weather was fine all day and night until i got onto the A27 and it started to drizzle a bit. Nothing heavy tho. See how it goes tomorrow?!
What time was everyone supposed to be meeting??
12pm mate. I'm driving down and finding the marina. Where's a good place to eat there?
down the marina there is loads of places to grab some food. there is a pretty decent harvester on the corner but if you go up a set of steps opposite the car park and mc donalds there is a lil walkway section (forgotten the word to describe it) and there are loads of restuarants and stuff down there and a pub on the corner
yea you wont get a lowerd 200sx with a standard bumper up that car park, however there is the asda car park, just take the left and go down to the asda car park
galeforce winds n rain hmm, so no brby then if anyones still goin to the marina i'll bod down with me mate, burger n a beer check out some of these motors we've been hearing all about.
maybe sort the barby for better weather?
I'm just looking into the best plan for tomorrow :)
The BBQ will definately take place another time as it's a great idea :)
agreed with the above weather dont look 2 great 4 2mo!
Thing with Asda is if you leave the cars for more than a couple of hours you may get a ticket, not sure how well enforced it is tho. just to give you a heads up:thumbs:
cool cool, will check up later gotta walk the mutleys
ttfn
Since the bbq is off anyone else still going down?
Sadly due to the weather, the event will be postponed :(
I think this is the best plan going forward and I'll sort a date that suits asap. I know there's a lot of interest in this and I'm really looking forward to it :D
OK cool yea best to hold till better weather. Thought Mr D and some others said above that they might be going to the marina.. maybe that was earlier tho.
ok cool, might as well pospone it and enjoy the gd weather (wen it comes) and a barby
Still got this in the back of my mind. No sign of decent weather though :( Fingers crossed :)
Weather is a tad better now. Anytime soon?
How's about September :) I'll need to arrange a BBQ so that will decide the date.
Sounds good, just hope the weather is good. 3rd time lucky?
It best be. I've been thinking about the timing and Sunday evening would probably be better than midday due to the amount of traffic/parking about.
Volunteers with large BBQs welcome.
Liking the idea of subsidised food for members on production of membership cards too :)
I am guessing this will be postponed until next summer.
I will unsticky it until then, when it could/will be re-organised..
