View Full Version : Who's got their christmas tree up?
Mine is still in the loft, and I'm scared of heights, so I have to wait until my ex comes around again before I can put it up :(
So who's got their tree up, and can I see a pic to tide me over till mine goes up? :D
(No 'Bah humbug' replies please, this is my first xmas on my own and I'm making damned sure it's going to be jolly lol)

LOL @ Steve, is that one of those fibre optic ones??
I havent put ours up yet, I'll do it tomorrow (uh today) and post you some pics :)
Dave
Sorry TAC I'm going to humbug, or at least I am until next week. I think Christmas loses something if you start too early, I really hate to see Christmas stuff in the shops in October.
The other residents in my street have done you proud though, it looks like Santa's flippin' grotto!

HA! I sneer in a most unfestive like manner at your little weeedy tree Steve :)
(no , that *that* kind of weed  )
We have not one, but 2 full size trees. Complete with lights, chocolates and pressies underneath.
But that's only 'cos my fiancee is a bit daft, and I am too bloody soft sometimes...
HUMBUG (said quietly in case she hears)
Cheers, Phil
got my tree up.
It is one of those fibre optic ones. They are great you pull out the branches (about 2 minute work, set back and see if it looks straight) then plug it into the wall and it glows pretty colours, shove a star ontop and job done.
Cracking and all for £30 :D

I'm just the same. Love to see decs up but I think you just get too kinda used to them if they're up too early. Also, am I the only one who likes to keep them up till the full 12 days have passed?
And while I'm on ( :) ) there's another thing! Always remember my teacher saying if there's no Christ in Christmas, it's not worth having. Kind of stuck with me that even though I'm not religious at all. Hate it when I see the word Xmas.
You'll be OK on your own TAC. Just get lots of the Christmas spirit down you! :D

Yeah TAC you'll be fine!!
If not drop me a line I'll come and see ya. I'm in a similar boat but I can't even see my Son till Boxing Day, this is my first Christmas without him, he's 7.

Oooh Mike, that must be hard :( Same goes for you mate, if it gets too difficult then give me a shout.
Thanks for the piccies of christmas trees, guys :) And to the scrooges...well, fair comment :) I only put my tree up early because it's such a load of hassle doing it that I don't see sense in doing it just for the festive season - if I'm going to go to all the trouble of checking the lights etc then I want it up for at least 3 weeks lol. And no Robbie, you're not alone because mine stays up until the 12th night - again, mainly because I'm such a lazy bitch that once it's up I can't be bothered to take it down again! (And it looks nice as well ;) :D )
Only christmas tree I'll see this year is down on the wellhead deck.
(offshore rig pig reference, means I'm away offshore tomorrow):(
Christmas tree is slang for the wellhead manifold for those engineer types out there.
Nah, I'm really not a scrooge TAC. I think it's just something us blokes have in built in us. If you admit Christmas is getting close, there's a sudden realisation that, yes, you've really got to do it. That 'S' word. Womans dream, blokes nightmare! SHOPPING! :D Easier to live in denial!!
Aye, shopping uuurgggg :(
So the more time I spend on decorating and the tree then the less time I have to do SHOPPING
First Christmas on my tod in three years.
First Christmas back HOME! in three years, actually.. :)
And mother is buggering off to Madeira.. not even decided if I'll bother with a tree, et al. Although I got my first christmas card in the post this morning..

I agree completely, I always write Christmas with a capital letter, not because of any religious convictions but because I'm a picky barstard;)
I would like to take the decorations down again the day after boxing day 'cos Christmas has finished then hasn't it? It's really wierd going back to work in the new year and then coming home to see decorations still up. The wife however, doesn't share this view......
I'm sure there will be a few people on the board to keep you company all those who will be on their own this year for whatever reason:)

EDIT: B0llocks, just noticed from the picture that the damn thing is leaning to the left! grrr.
I'm surprised nobody has got their tree decorated with car-stuff, like wiring harness etc... instead of the 'normal' glittery stuff.
On my placement last year, us IT bods had a tree decorated with network cables and blank CDs!
We sort of got a car theme going ... the baubles match the colour of Hayley's car and the tinsel mine :)
We did buy a real one, but the dog decided to sample some needles, and promptly threw up  . So it's out in the garden still wrapped up.
Anybody want a tree? Approximately 6 1/2 foot, non drop needles. Come and pick it up and it's yours :D
