Wasted spark coilpacks

Hello,

I have been looking at the wasted spark remote coilpack kit on Driftworks. Just wondering if there were plans for an SR20 version or if the RB20/25/26 kit could be adapted to fit?

Hi Rich,
If we can find a suitable coilpack that doesn't need a proprietory plug and can be easily wired in like our 6 cyl ones, then we'd be up for that, yeah, but at the moment I can't find anything equivalent.
There's no technical reason you couldn't run a 6cyl one and just use 2/3 of it and I'm certain it'd work fine, but it'd be a bit weird I guess....

Hmm, tempting. Your 6cyl system is still a lot cheaper than any aftermarket 4cyl ones and its been proven under some pretty harsh conditions.

How would the RB set up fit the SR? Would i use the standard ignition amp or would i cut it out and wire everything through the remote kit? I have a spare coilpack wiring loom so i am happy to have a bit of an experiment with the set up.

basically in exactly the same way :)
You use the standard ignition amp, then cut into the coil loom that runs off it and join those wires to 2 of the 3 channels in the new coil, dead easy :)

Just as a quick update, we've got a few different 4 cylinder coils on the way over to us for testing :)

also on the edge of my seat - though i am also looking at bosch 'hec 716' coils - single coils that can be mounted off of the engine

We've got a couple of 4 cylinder coils here now and have one out for testing at the moment, shouldn't be long now :)

If anyone else if confident with a bit of wiring and tuning, has a spare coilpack loom and fancies testing one as well, drop me an email with your details :)

im just waiting to buy a set for my SR20DET. Mine is breaking up when boost is above 1 bar:rolleyes: . I know the stock system should be able to take more.. But gapping the plugs down helps a litlle. So does raising the ignition dwell times in the PFC.. So all i can suspect is piss weak ignition circuit. and i tried other stock coilpacks and ignition amp.. I cant find this fault. Your set would give a stronger spark with more energy right?

hello peeps, just wondering how the wasted spark kits are doin? I am looking at using an edis coilpack(not edis unit,i know how to wire the coilpack i think depends whether wires are v+ or v-) not sure about s14a ignition amplifier has it got one?:(:sxoc:

Hi, I would be interested in a 4cyl kit for an s14a. I suspect the slight misfire I have is due to one of the coilpacks as a new set of plugs didn't cure it. Did the 4cyl packs you sent out work and do you have anymore or intend to sell them as a kit.
