my mate brought one round yesterday, bloody hell for a 1.4 is was well quick, he was racing round like it was a go kart, felt very light and nimble.

have you ever had/ driven one of these little french cars???? what did u think???

Quick but not as good as a Mini with a boosted intercooled metro turbo engine in it!

yeh, my brother. axgt500, half leather and dark met grey. did all the modding for him. flimsy, feable, dodgy lectrics, poorly built bag of ****e. and watch for rust in the top of the front inner wings, just behind the headlamps (that are as dim as feck) oh, forgot stupidly spaced pedals...... think ive got a pipercross ind kit in the shed if your interested...

Got an AX but it certainly aint a GT. 954cc!:D
Runs on thin air though! Its saving me a fortune.

forgot stupidly spaced pedals

Oh yes the pedals! so close together you need size 2 feet to drive an AX properly.

I bought one with no MOT a few years ago, and spent a week soring it out. I got some Spax springs and lowered the front, adjusted the rear torsion bar to match. It had a Janspeed exhaust and I bought the pipercross filter, and all seemed ok.

I just finished it all in time for Trax about 3 years ago, so I took it on the 0 - 60. Best I could manage was a 10.9!!!! I was gutted! :(

Drove the thing home and rang the autotrader, sold it within a week. It looked sweet, and felt ok to drive, if a bit too light weight, but it was sh*t slow! I think I got a bad one, and maybe the engine was on it's way out, although it never smoked or anything.

my bro had one a few years back and i must say it was sh**.........having said that, my old corolla gti ran a 16.2sec quarter (proven) and i got minced by an ax from 40-110!!!!!

stopped up to ask the guy what he had done to it - ported and polished with a piper'x filter - that was it! very very suprised at that:eek: didnt believe him mind you;)

Yep, I've had two of these... nippy little feckers but the top end is sh:t :p !
I destroyed the wheels and suspension struts on the first one after driving over a sleeping policeman in an abandoned car park at about 60mph , hence my boardname!
I looked after my second one better. Black one, lowered with Dare anthracite 5 spokes, K+N, full Peco system and a Kent fast road cam. T'was a fast wee bugger and would frequently humiliate all the other Nova/Corsa etc 'scrabble-mobiles' :D .
The electrics and rust were indeed a problem.

Couldn't believe it.

Yeah, plastic tailgates are cool - not!

I have aDebut 1.5 diesel, great 4 economy. Am selling it htough cause i'm getting a ZX TD instead.

Anyone want it ??

How much? ;) :) I miss my old one at the moment. I had a AX 1.4D for a couple of years - a lovely car! Nippy as hell, and handled well too, probably due to weighing less than a well-starved sparrow. Crap road/engine noise, crap heater, crap headlights, but could run on the Mway at 85 all day on a teaspoonful of olive oil. :) Went the way of all old cars to make way for the 200sx...

And it handled better than my current 'point-and-shoot' Bravo - the nastiest car I've ever driven in the wet - it makes the 200 seem benign & well-behaved. :) It seems on the edge of traction at all times, with hideous torque steer and understeer. You really do just roll around corners and then apply the power . :(
