Parked in Leicester today on carpark of disused office buiding covered in fly posters. Gone for less than 5 minutes come back and I've been clamped. Sticker on window says £80 or £350 if towed away. There are no signs and loads of other cars parked with no stickers or anything. I call the number on the sticker and two t*ssers turn up in less than 5 minutes and demand £94 in cash or they'll tow it away. I say wheres the sign that says you'll get clamped and they show me a sign A4 size buried among the fly posters. I say how come other cars are parked there, they say they have a list of peoples registrations who pay to park there. More like decoys to attract people I say. This scam is run by a company called MIDLAND PARKING CONTRACTS from Birmingham, so if your visiting Leicester be warned.
Leicester is well known as car unfriendly and to top off the whole crappy day I get home to find I've got caught by a speed camera doing 40 in a 30 zone. Bo**ocks

I have some stickers that read something like this.

Notice to Wheel clampers.

The placement of any clamping device to this wheel will be regarded as trespass upon my property. Such a device will be forcibly removed and will most likely result in irrepairable damage to the clamp. You have been warned.

As far as I know this has never been tried in the UK courts. Theoretically clamping a wheel is tresspass since a car is property. If you have warned that damage to the clamp will occur you have overcome the problem of being charged with criminal damage.

My dad carries a cordless angle grinder in his car for this very reason.

I'd cut it off and deny all knowledge. I'd be happy to go to court over it. What evidence would they have? Your honour I don't know what they are talking about. My car was never clamped. I never parked there. What evidence is there to prove otherwise. Where is the clamp that they claim I damaged.

It would be at the bottom of the nearest river.

Depending on which clamp they use you can get some off like this, Jack car up, deflate tyre (easy to get at with 5 spokes) full lock and pull off clamp. no damage to clamp, no charge ;) oh and then fit spare wheel.
Wont work with the clamps which have the bottom bits that go higher than the rim though.

I got clamped a while back...

They had trouble putting the clamp on due to the lowness of my car ;) and I came back to find them just slapping a chain through my front wheel

I made the best of a bad situation, negotiated them down a bit, and got a £10 discount for getting it sideways out of the carpark!

oh some of that hydrolic suspension should do the trick, leave it slammed to the floor and put on wheels with no big holes in. Sorted.

I reckon the best way to avoid being clamped is to carry four clamps around with you.....
Like to see em try and clamp a car that already has four clamps on it.
