View Full Version : Flywheel machining

Just got an Exedy racing paddle clutch for the Micra as a short term replacement for the knackered Helix one until RC Developments can get hold of a twin plate kit from Japan.

In the instructions, it says that the flywheel should be machined flat before fitting, but I need to get it installed as soon as possible and don't want to spend a lot of money on it as the twin plate kit comes with a new flywheel anyway.

If I give the clutch a few hundred miles to "bed in" and don't thrash it for a while, will I still need to get the flywheel machined?

What did you guys who have fitted uprated clutches do?

Thanks in advance :)

Always a good idea to machine the flywheel, maybe not as important on a std car, but when modded, to get the best results, the face needs to be as perfect as possible.

Shouldnt be too expensive, a local engineering firm / engine company should be able to do it for £20-£30 :)

Most good places will also lighten it whilst their at it, for another fiver or so!

Highly recommended
