Anyone been on one of these driving experience type track days where you get a blast in a Ferrari or get a go rallying??
If you've got any recommendations for somewhere oop North please let me know.
Cheers

might be worth stating whether they let you drive the cars properly too. I heard some of these days they let you rev the cars to 3000rpm then you have to change up

I can't see them being too fussed about you kicking the sheet out of a mk1 escort:D
went on one at thruxton.
excellent day.
drove 2 seater MG and get marked.
drive nice and you go in formula ford 7 laps.
passenger in 911 on a fast lap, v nice
then blast in ferrari. boring cos they wont let you give it any.
but take a visa card , £70 gets you 7 laps in a formula renault.
That was fooking ace. about 120 mph 2 " off the floor with massive tyre. You feel like your flying.
excellent day out.
i did a Rally day at Turweston aerodrome (thro red letter days).... was excellent just getting to pelt a mkII escort around a track :)
bit pricey tho, but if you book through the company themselves (BILL GWYNNE RALLY SCHOOL) you can go out in a scooby on the advanced track for about £250 a day IIRC.
Excellent day tho :D
I recently paid £100 for a rally experience at Oulton Park.
You get to drive a Ford Escort Cossie on two separate tarmac stages - each about a mile long.
It only lasts a total of 45 minutes (20 minutes first stage, 20 minutes second stage, trip with the instructor), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. You get to thrash the living daylights out of the car, in 'reasonably' safe surroundings - and spin/drift to your hearts content.
You also get a car to yourself (group of 6), so there's no hanging around twiddling yer thumbs.
I've heard that the Shropshire Rally School, Nr Whitchurch is pretty good as well.
PS When I say 'Escort Cossie' - what I mean is - it's billed as an Escort Cossie, but it's fook all like one  They have a big wing on the back (looks like a cossie), a Sierra Cossie engine (errr) and Sierra running gear (oh poo). They're not 4 wheel drive either, but hey, where would be the fun in that ?
Regards...Mike.
