decided to have a go fitting my new plenum
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//DSC00700.JPG
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//DSC00698.JPG

as you can see the boss for the temp sensors is to close to the thermostat housing and will need to be plugged and i will fit the sensors into 'WATER TEMP SENDER PORT SLEEVE' from GAUGEPLACE
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//DSC00699.JPG

modding the fuse box to give me more room
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//DSC00701.JPG
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//DSC00702.JPG

i have cut it flat and will mount it closer to the wing on a flat plate, had to do this as it fouled the throttle

the ivc needs a simple mod, the fuel rail needs cutting so the fuel feeds from the left hand side:nod:

its not all done yet, i need to make a new cold pipe, and a few other things, it does seem well made the only big problem is the temp sensors fowling the thermostat housing

That manifold looks cool. Looks like it mounts lower than I expected though, is that the reason for the fuse box mods? Is the Throttle body still in the original location or has this also moved? I dont understand the thermostat propblems either :(

the tb has droped and turned toward the wing, i could have moved the fuse box over a bit but went for max room instead, you have 2 temp sensors you need to screw into the manifold but the clash with the thermostat housing
so i have pluged them and will either drill and tap the side or fit an adapter in the hose

Nice shiney parts  Will be watching this thread too

One query about the above picture. Not sure weather in practice it will really matter though...

In the AVC-R manual it says the boost sensor should be monted with the diaphragm or what ever is in the plastic bit horizontal. So the part you fix the boost hose on points vertically downwards. :)

Edit: Just had another look at the picture, and it doesn't look like they are fixed in :wack:
so this might be irrelivant.

that's the main pump i have a smaller one circulating water around the engine/heater matrix:nod: and don't give me ideas  i have enough to do to get it back on the road:nod: :)

the small 13Lpm pump just pumps around the engine/matrix the secound big pump operates off a thermo-couple fitted into the rad feed pipe from the rhs of the head [funny shaped casting which has the turbo water pipe fitted to it]
and has a digital adjustable controler

So, does the plate bolt to the Z32 box then the engine?

Or, do you cut the Z32 flange off and weld that plate on?

I see, so the right length is kept?

So the material is machined from the face of the Z32 flange? And you still have enough thread to bolt it to the plate?

just collected some more box section:D, im bracing into the shell with 3mm plate where the ''frame'' allows and all suspension/chassis mounting points are being replaced by the frame meaning the shell will hang off the roll-cage and supporting framework and be totally rigid, the only external surface that at present not being replaced with frp is the roof:nod: when i get some rear over-fenders the rear quarters will be removed, meaning outer skin and inner wings reshaped [12j wheels:wack:] and all welded/bonded in place, fpr boot, doors, bonnet, front wings

tig is harder, just remember as most tigs are used as arc as well, tig welding torch negative, arc welding with rods torch positive, but as i say try a small roll of brazing wire in your mig on its lowest setting, really easy:nod:

it is surprising how weak the oe subframe is, really does need to be well gusseted imo.

that is some serious bracing to the rear mounting points too should make for a pretty stiff chassis.

well the rear sub-frame brace is being totally replaced, i have removed most of the boot and replaced it with aluminium, the rear floor is going as it is no longer needed for rigidity and with be plated with aluminium which is a lot lighter, the rear quarters are being removed and frp fenders being bonded in there place, the heavy plastic fuel tank is gone replaced by a light weight alloy one so all min all im looking at saving weight

theres more to fitting overfenders than i thought:nod:

first cut off the old wing leaving 25mm to bond to

work out a cut line so i can extend the inner arch [which i will do tomorrow as its cold and dark now:(]

then it should end up like this

With regards bonding agent...

Do you ever want them to come off again?

Look up your local distributor of this:

http://www.itwplexus.com/home.html

It's a self-mixing 2 part adhesive. You get a special gun to dispense it, and once it's cured, you wont ever have to worry about your trim flapping or coming off.

If you want somethings that will come off if you need it to....

http://www.sika.co.uk/tech-elseal-bond Sikaflex 552 will be ideal :)

still working on the rear subframe suports
cut off the bottom section of the chassis rail holding the studs, [
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//RIMG0039.JPG

the way Nissan did it was press the stud into a collar weld a closing plate over the top with a bolt passing through the plate into the top of the stud
i made a frame that picks up on that bolt that i have welded into the side chassis rails and allows me to get the right position for the studs when i cut away the original rail
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//RIMG0042.JPG
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//RIMG0040.JPG

then all i need to o after removing the old rail was make a new one [going to use a 40mm tank cutter to make loads of holes to keep down the weight]
http://premium1.uploadit.org/nollett123//RIMG0038.JPG

trial fitment of the main rail, packed up after this as im to old and cold:o
