Well as we all know its very nearly christmas and what can go wrong normally does
does anyone know of a gas engineer that will come out tonight/tomorrow in the neath area and not charge too much as my oven has decided that it no longer likes different temperatures, it likes staying on the same one, ie the one it is on when you light the bloody oven!
Only noticed the problem last night when I went to cook a pizza that takes 26 minutes to cook, a hour and half later it still hadnt cooked and had made a hell of a mess at the bottom of the oven!
cheers
yellow pages - most will come out but your'll have to fork out a shite load
I tried the ones listed on enerywatches website but they arent taking on until ater the new year :( and the thing i I havent got a load of money to spend out and my landlord isnt interested just says to me to get an engineer out and pay for it and then when they can they will reimburse me :(

Who's oven is it? If its his and its on the inventory then its down to him to ensure its safe and correct operation. Do you have a gas safety certificate for that and the boiler?
There are a few landlords on here but I can't remember who:confused: They would/should know whats what

Try JB, i'm sure he's an evil landlord
tbh if your oven is supplied as part of your rental agreement then its down to the landlord to sort it. Its also a gas safety issue as its not functioning correctly so there is a fair chance its dangerous!
try telling them that, the only thing they are interested in is the rent.
I phoned him yesterday and he said for me to try and get someone out as he doesnt know anyone that is still working at this time so its up to me to find someone and they will reimburse me :(
Tell him it's up to him to find next month's rent and you'll reimburse him when he's got the oven fixed :smash:
Gas certificate has to be there by law. One of my rental props just failed on the cooker, the glass lid did not shut off the rings when it went down.
If its there when you moved in then it has to be repaired /replaced.
But obviously landlords differ in the speed of realing with it.
I dont think I have ever seen one for here and until now for some strange stupid reason it didnt even occur to me :indiff:
no I still havent managed to get it done :( how am I going to be able to cook?
If you get the cooker fixed off your own back your going to end up with some liability for it as your landlord could just turn around and say you broke it and made it unsafe etc etc.
what am I supposed to do?! I cant find anyone who will come out anyway but I also have a one month old baby in the house what if something is wrong with it hence why it is playing up (well I know something is wrong but well you know what I mean, gas leaking etc though I cant smell gas thank god!)
  :censored:  :furious:  :(
Get down to Argos and buy yourself a Microwave to tide you over. It sounds like it's just a temp. probe fault, so don't worry about gas leaks.
While your there, get a carbon monoxide alarm for your peace of mind, they are about £15 though but will let you know if theres a leak

I got a microwave but I need something to cook a turkey and pork
I used to have a carbon monoxide alarm but Jon didnt take it from my old house :( I dont even have a proper fire alarm here and I cant open any windows in the back, we dont have the keys for them

I'd threaten the landlord with not paying the rent untill all this is sorted, sounds like he's breaking a lot of laws
And even though you'll be hungry have a good Christmas guys ;)
this is doing my head in, its still not sorted  :annoyed: and I still cant afford to pay for a engineer or whoever it is that will fix the oven, the landlord said he didnt know anyone working over the christmas and new year, I think my landlords will be having a very pissed off Jow on the phone later (since I moved in last July I have had a pane of glass taken out and a new drain cover and someone to come out and look at my timer to which I was told nothing can be done about it as whoever done the wiring didnt do it very good) stil waiting for keys for the windows so I can actually open some in the back, a pane of glass to go back in, my bathroom taps to be fixed (something has snapped inside) for the front door to be sorted (when it rains water leaks in, I have has to throw the carpet by the front door as it got wrecked and was making the house smell of damp) for drawers in kitchen to be fixed and for a cupboard door to be sorted as it looks like the glass is going to fall out and there is a big bubble/bulge in the ceiling above the babies cot) there are more, but I havent got the list at the moment.

thats how bad the damp was and with this weather now I dread to think what its going to be like :(
sorry needed to rant
Looks bad :( All those things should be sorted by landlord asap. The gas safety things is LAW though, that must be done once a year. Doesnt have to be displayed in the property, but your landlord must have a copy and you can ask to see it.
well thank god, the landlord called around and they are going to get me a new cooker! yey! they are also going to start doing the repairs within the next few weeks!

Took them a long time to start sorting the place out.:smash:
Glad my landlord is quicker than that. The central heating packed up two weeks ago Monday. No heating, no hot water. Phoned him that morning on my way to Gateshead telling him about it and that I would not be back until the Thursday night. He asked whether I minded if he went in with a plumber the following day or would I rather wait until the Friday when I was back. Told him to go ahead and when I got back everything was sorted.
