View Full Version : SXOC February Meet!!!
Hey folks! As promised I'm posting an official thread regarding this meet. ;) The original info for this thread was:
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=246470
Just copped this stuff's too long for just one post so it's continued on post #2! :wack:
We're conducting a vote between now & Monday 18th December @ 00:51 as to what date (sorry there's only a choice of 2!) would suit everybody for the event? Vote in the poll attached to this thread! (20th & 27th Jan)
The day is looking like the following:
- RR (Rolling Road/Dyno) day: We'll be heading to Westward Precision Engineering in Enfield. It'll be a max of 15 cars so get your names in asap once we've confirmed the date! (or once you've voted!) Gotta let you all know now:Full members have priority in booking as per standard club rules. What this means is "if all the places available are not filled by members then it will open up to non-members, but they will end up paying the higher amount".
***EVERYONE PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING***
Martin @ Westward won't be doing any tuning on the day: it'd take far too long & wouldn't be fair on everyone else waiting around to get theirs done too. If you want to have your car tuned with him you can give him a bell. The number's 00 353 46 95 41 622
*************************************
There's difference of €20 in the cost of the RR for members & the non-members, which is still a good bit less than the normal amount you'd pay for a RR session so don't worry: regardless we're all still getting a bargain!
To the non-members, from me to you, the difference you'd pay as a non-member & a member for the rolling-road session will more-or-less cover the cost of membership if you're keen to join us for the RR-day (it costs €22-odd for the year). Apart from being guaranteed a place & more craic cause there'll be loads of us there doing the RR together you'll have a year's membership & everything that goes with it (including access to group-buys which is what clinched it for me!) More info available here:
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=254279
- PRIZES!!! (at the RR part of day): Depending on how many we have to give out will depend on the number of categories & conditions under which these will be won. Prizes can include such things as Octane Booster among other things. These are yet to be confirmed!
- Professional Photos: I'm waiting to hear back from Kopijack & Muttly about this one. Lads, throw me a PM when you get the chance, will ye? Provisionally we'll have someone there who'll be taking photos & you can sort it out with them on the day if there's payment involved or whatever. The SXOC has nothing to do with these individuals & it's purely on a 1-to-1 basis how you guys approach this! :)
- The weather: Let's hope it's dry & cool! (For the RR figures..! ) Bring a golf-umbrella if you have one! We all know what the weather here's like in January..! :annoyed:
- Magazine: Yet to be confirmed but there's talk of a professional photographer & an article/feature done on the meet by "Modified Motors"! Btw, check out the latest one of these - there's a 350bhp S15 on the front cover! :notworthy
Muttly, can you PM me about your guy?
Derek, can you PM me about this regarding the guy you know in "Slick"? Thanks man!
- Location: Once you're confirmed as going I'll PM you the exact location. For privacy reasons & so we minimise the number of "boy-racers" who will be aware of the meet, we're keeping it hush-hush until the last minute. All I'll say for now is (for those travelling a long-distance) head for Dublin, get to the M50 & budget for no-more-than a 40-mins drive once you're on any 1 extreme of the M50. Again, more will be disclosed closer to the date via PM.
IMPORTANT POINT (This part of the message comes straight from the SXOC officials)
This meet is representing the SXOC, so the onus is on you all to please ensure that there are no boy-racers present and no other cars present (mates of mates etc). Some of us might remember the Mondello incident this year so I think that's all that's needed to be said on that. Also any person messing will be asked to leave and not welcomed at any other SXOC meets.
***Continued in post #2***
***Continued from Post #1***
- Meet and Drive: We'll be doing this after the meet has taken place, more than likely followed by dinner for those who're interested/sticking around. The area/exact route will only be discussed on the day to those present for the same reasons as described above when referring to the location of the meet! :whip:
- Post-meet activities: tbc..!
- Staying up near Dublin? We'll be coordinating with Derek & his Aunt (who owns a hotel) & we'll see if we can arrange for an SXOC member's discount. :)
- & finally...
The likely running order:
10am - Meet at Westward Precision Engineering for the RR
1pm/2pm - Those who went to the RR get lunch in Enfield/along the way to the meet.
3pm - THE MAIN EVENT!!! :sxoc:
6pm(ish, maybe earlier) - Drive! ;)
After the drive - Dinner. We'll come up with a range of options & ask ye what ye fancy on the day.
After Dinner - that's it! :) ...unless someone can come up with an alternative! ...like heading out on the town somewhere but obviously we're going to have to find somewhere to ditch the cars for the night..! ;) If there are people staying in Dublin/around the area we end up, then we'll organise it from there. This part is only an idea right now so we'll firm up details closer to the time.
Any questions? Post them up here! :)
Please vote in the poll for the date then I'll start taking names for the meet & names, specs & other details for the rolling-road part of the day.
EDIT: When submitting interest in the day please post up or PM me the following:
1) Do you want to be put on the list for the rolling-road part of the day?
2) Are you going to the meet?
3) Are you a full member?
4) The list of mods/specs of your car.
JP
I've voted for the 27th as I'm off that weekend. But either will do. Also I'm up for doing the RR and I'm a member.

Do you say how much the RR is actually going to cost though? I don't see it?
Do you say how much the RR is actually going to cost though? I don't see it?
Nope! Didn't put it in cause the price hasn't been finalised until I get exact numbers but don't worry, we're paying under the odds! ;)
JP
Count me in! Voted for the 27th, hopefuly have sum decent alloys by then!!
:sxoc:
Hey folks,
When posting that you're going, can you please answer the following 3 questions:
1) Do you want to be put on the list for the rolling-road part of the day?
2) Are you going to the meet?
3) Are you a full member?
That'll make it a lot easier for me to figure out who wants to go to what bits! :wack: Anyone who's already posted that I'm not 100% sure about I've PM'd!
Cheers!

If there ends up being space left (And it isn't taken by non-members) at this that needs to be filled my friend would like to come along with his R32. Not an SX but close enough to be a space filler :D
Scratch that. He first begs me to go then says "Oh 27th I'll be away"
1) Do you want to be put on the list for the rolling-road part of the day? YES(not a full member, so put my name as a reserve if there are free spaces)
2) Are you going to the meet? YES

Leave me alone bully http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/fitz1979/Emotions/tongue.gif That's why I said a filler if an extra car was needed and no 200's were available to fill it.
He was gonna come anyway just to drool over our cars :) but he'll be off getting dragged around shops in some foreign place now.
You've all been added! Sugar - it's filling up fast! We've got half our quota for the RR in these last 2 days alone!
JP
i vote for the 27th, theres a better chance the car will be done by then,
Right folks - the meet will be on January 27th according to popular vote! I'll arrange for the RR-day to be set up for that day.
We've got 11 people confirmed for the rolling-road so-far; if you know of anyone who might be interested but who's not been on the board for the last week or so give them a shout & get their names down before the last 4 spaces go.
JP
jp - I've deleted your thread "Post Preview - Re: Meet in Ireland in Jan (advice please!) " as everything seems to be contained in here now.
cheers:thumbs:

Right - bad news: it seems some Toyota crowd booked the 27th yesterday :annoyed: so I'm proposing the following weekend which is Feb the 3rd  What do people think of this? So-far I have the following confirmed for the 27th:

3) Irishpaddy
4) Djlittle

8) Kopijack
9) Nick_NI
10) gsi_ire
Can ye all confirm the following weekend (Feb 3rd)?
I put up a poll to see if the weekends of the 3rd or 10th will do? If I know by this friday what people want then I can have the 3rd no probs! Sorry about the inconvenience everyone! :(
JP
NOOOOOOO Feb 3rd is no good for me. Prior Engagement.
Ok, on rethinking this it might be easier to express your preference of dates between the 3rd & the 10th - I'm good either way!
Muttly & Derek: 10th?

dont think he will do the rr, but reckon he will make an appearance at the meet
^ pay your membership you tight cnut! :wack:
No prices confirmed yet until definite date & numbers are coming but the man raises a point: the difference for members/non for the RR-day will be around the same as the membership fee for the year. :( Apologies to the non-members in advance but don't worry, it'll still be a good bit cheaper than a rolling-road session normally!
dont think he will do the rr, but reckon he will make an appearance at the meet
Whoever "he" is needs to log in & tell me he's coming
So-far these are the people who are confirmed & their preference for dates:

Thanks folks! :) It's gonna be a savage day!:sxoc:
JP
By the way, an idea was proposed: if anyone can think of things you'd like to do at the meet (e.g. showing people how to fit HID kits was one proposal) aside from the usual & a bit of shopping (you'll get it when you see the venue!) post them up here!
JP

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!! We've got us confirmation!!!:clap::sxoc:
Something I think I should say at this stage:
Remember even if you don't want to go to the RR-day you can meet up with the rest of us in the afternoon at the actual meet! Don't want people to think that this event is JUST about the RR-day, we're just talking a lot more about this element at the mo cause it's harder to organise! :wack:
Anyway, here's an update on the RR-part of the day including exerpts from Joanna @ Westard:
Rolling Road Day & Meet is Saturday February 10th 2007
Members on Club List provided may attend - no additonal persons permitted for viewing or attendance. We ask that no more than those people on the list provided (2 people incl driver per car) attend - for Health & Safety Requirements.
We do not require a deposit - each person can pay the club organiser (I believe this is myself for the day! :)) when they have their run & the Club Organiser can make payment in full at the end of the day.
We would ask that all/most be present for 9.30am to begin.
It would be advisable for everyone to service their car / and check oil levels & regular oil/ filter change before they attend - in order to get the best possible from their car on the day. (I'd also recommend people clean their AFM from talking to others about RR-days)
We will provide some spot prizes; 2 x car vallet packs & 2 x octane Boost & 2 x Baseball caps (Need some ideas how we'll decide what categories we'll give these out for: need 3 minimum! - Post up any ideas cause the last thread's gone I think..?)
We provide Tea/ Coffee & crisps/ bars/sweets & soft drinks on the day without charge. How sound are these people!! :notworthy
We can have our local Cafe provide Soup & Sandwiches at our premises. For 10 -20 people it costs Euro 5.00 per person. If you wish to avail of this, please be sure to let me know one week in advance.(We can vote on whether we want to have this at the RR-day or have lunch together after the RR, or both now)
It can be cold during February, so perhaps you can remind all concerned to bring a warm Jacket!
Many thanks & looking forward to seeing you all in the new year !
best regards
Joanna

a cup of tea would be nice... and some valum while my car is being limited in third gear would be nice also....
hope it dont blow up:cry: :wack:
Is 4th not the better choice? Ratio closer to 1:1. But anyway I'm not bothered about soup etc but if it is there oxtail would be nice. If it is there I've no bother paying the €5 to have it. Actually go on, get it (as long as they have oxtail!!!! and cheese sambos!)

While having a foot massage from scantily-clad 21-year old college girls perhaps?? All at no extra charge naturally!

1) Dont put me on the list (yet), but would be very interested if i have the car in time.
2) As above.
3) Not yet.
My other car is actually booked in at westward on the 27/01/06
A Toyota driver then..! :p ;)
No worries mate, let me know as soon as you can!
Just reminded me: Everyone please bear in mind full members will have to get priority in places for the RR-day if there's more than 15 wanting to go. Aside from that it's "first-come-first-served"! :)

Well, its not actually a Toyota day, although i think the organiser had previously had a Toyota RR day at westward so i imagine he assumed it was just another Toyota RR day..... However it just so happens I do drive a Toyota, a Supra TT.
Il let you know anyhow as soon as i know for sure!

Still places ok? Having some work done so would luv to get er on the RR:D
Lol! Yup! You're down as a definite! So the car'll be fixed by then?? :D
JP
Nope not yet, but the parts are on their way hopefully!:wack:
Have a stage 1 chip, boost valve, decat, downpipe & gauges on route as well :D :D :D
Went mad with my crimbo cash!
Right folks, we need some ideas for the competition end of the RR-day; so far I've got these 2:
1) Closest flywheel-to-wheels power ratio (i.e. least percentage difference between the flywheel figure & the wheels figure) - this one shows how well tuned your car is for the more serious enthusiasts.
2) Most powerful standard car (we need a minimum of 3 cars for this to be fair methinks..! No point in case only 1 standard car shows up & takes it just for being there! :wack:)
& the ideas from a thread I posted up a while ago..!
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=254042
I like these ones:
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=2864143&postcount=5 (Seriously! :D)
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=2864158&postcount=7 (Not so seriously... :wack:)
JP
I like this one:
) Highest BHP for least amount of mods (only problem is what if no-one has similar mods, how do you decide..?)
For the similar mods judge it by stage 1,2 & 3 may be?
Hmm... yeah, but we'd have to assume there's a few people who have similar stages... actually that reminds me:

1) Do you want to be put on the list for the rolling-road part of the day?
2) Are you going to the meet?

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
Since we're reaching our threshold of 15 cars please don't forget that full members get priority places on the RR-day; this is not my call but SXOC policy I'm afraid! :( The meet is open to everyone though! :) If Skeets & R360-200SX are confirmed as going that leaves 1 space left to whoever. After the max of 15 cars have been reached, members will start getting a priority over non-members even if they've booked their place first - again sorry about this, club rules! :(
To be fair to the early-subscribing non-members, the only way I can think of around losing a place would be whoever the first to put their name down first will stay on the list the longest (that's Kopijack). Also, if you subsequently become a full member before the meet (or say before the 3rd of Feb) then your place will not be given to another full member. I'm trying to make this as fair to everyone as possible so if there's any issue about it please post it up here & we'll go through it if I've missed anything.
On a separate note: since the name of this thread has been changed to "SXOC February Meet!!!" it seems your subscription to the original thread (Jan meet) may be cancelled - least mine was!
I'll PM everyone that's posted on the thread to date to alert them of this tomorrow - for now I'm heading to bed: up for work in 4 hours!:cry::cry:

An important point was raised by R360-200SX in another thread: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=2958806&posted=1#post2958806
In the e-mail I received from Westward I was asked:
"We ask that no more than those people on the list provided ( 2 people incl driver per car) attend - for Health & Safety Requirements."
This essentially means people who are not driving there to have their cars RR'd & are not the "1 extra passenger per car" can't head along to the RR-day. This however does NOT stop people from going to the actual meet later on in the day!
Sorry to R360-200SX for not making this more clear beforehand & thanks for drawing this to my attention! :)
JP
***DIRECTIONS***
According to my memory (& http://www.aaireland.ie/routes/ :wack:) from the M50 ring-road of Dublin, head West on the N4/M4. There'll be signposts to it there!
This is the directions once we're in the town; we're coming from the Dublin Road if you don't go the way that makes you pay the toll - figured this out the first time but takes a few extra mins! ;) If you've paid a toll & went the motorway route you'll be coming from the Clonard way if memory serves me right.

Right something that needs to be suggested. Where is everyone coming from thats going to the RR. Will some people be coming up the M7?? If so maybe we could organise a convoy that way? Or maybe meet at the red cow. Kind of central-ish even for Dublin people. I'd say at that hour of the day traffic shouldn't be a probelm. Say meet at the red cow hotel (I think thats what its called) they've a bit of a car park. For the last RR with the Almera/Pulsar meet thats where we met.

Actually just thought of something, a place to wash the cars would be handy. Even just a bucket of water would do.
Are you talking about before the RR part of the day or the meet?
JP
I'd say before the meet. Even if we just have a bit of a water supply where the meet is happening just to clean up the cars. I know mine will be very messy after coming up from Cork.
Right - I'll see what I can come up with - might even get ye to divert somewhere on the way there or back... Depending on how many people are interested in doing this will depend where I'm thinking of doing it. ;)
JP
if theres gonna be a photoshoot then it'd be a good idea
no petrol stations with a jet wash near by?
In Enfield there might be - where the meet is there might be one a bit far away but I'll check around when I've got some time/next time I'm up that way.

Right - on this issue, thanks to Kopijack, there's a petrol station & jet-wash relatively close to the meet location, about 5/10 minutes away at most which won't be a massive pain to travel to before the meet. On our way back from Enfield we can take the convoy via there for whoever wants to get their car washed! :)
It's €1 for each setting you want to use at the place so it won't be breaking the bank! ;) There's also 2 bays so we'll get through the convoy no probs!

Location of the meet will be PM'd to people before the day itself - it's within 40mins drive of either end of the M50 (shown in the first post of this thread)
Anyone at the RR-day will have no probs getting there & anyone just going to the meet I'll make sure JP let's you know where it is closer to the day. I don't want word to get out as to the location of the meet and neither does JP. FINAL RR-DAY & MEET UPDATE!!! :sxoc: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!
We've 1 place on the Rolling-Road left so any last-minute entries need to let me know! ;) *Newbies to the club - this is aimed at you too!* :p
I'm looking for 3 stewards to help with the organisation of the day - just to help coordinate the cars (if needs be) - for directing people to places or spaces etc during the meet & or at the RR part of the day. To be honest, I doubt there'll be much to do but would be great have people to ask if something does arise whereby we need to shift the cars etc. Any volunteers? :)
Here's the running order etc:
8:40 Everyone meets at the Red Cow Hotel on the Naas Road (Northern folks might want to aim for 8:30 cause of the toll-bridge on your side of the Red Cow roundabout). Anyone who can't make that or is running late, you can ring the mobile off your respective head of convoy (see http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=261492&page=4 for the Northern convoy people & http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=261597&page=2 for the Southern convoy people; or myself for everyone else). I'll be sending around a PM to everyone before the end of the weekend with my number & the respective North & South people heading up the convoy)
8:45 we head off from the Red Cow in a savage-looking convoy of 200SXs  & head for....
9:30 :Plug: Westward Precision Engineering in Enfield Co. Meath. :Plug:
2pm-ish We head off for lunch (details of where I'll firm up at the meet)
3:30 we arrive at the meeting place (everyone who's registered their interest in this section of the day please read the first 2 posts of this thread & send me your phone-number so I can text you that morning with the location of the meet - I'm leaving it off this long deliberately because we (the club) don't want anyone unexpected to turn up & ruin it for the rest of us.
6pm (or before depending on the mood) we head off home/dinner/other (ask myself or Kopijack on the day what "other" is):thumbs:
9:30/10pm We head out on the town - we can decide this on the day depending on people's moods or if people are staying in Dublin for the night.
The "etc" part:
PM me if you want to stay overnight in Dublin (or Wicklow as the case may be) and I'll see if I can organise a group-booking somewhere - Derek's helping us with this) If we do head out that night I'll organise somewhere for the cars to be parked while we head out.
The prices are as follows:
€60 for the RR-day for registered Members
€80 for the RR-day for non-members
€5 per person for soup & sandwiches (so if that's 2 people in a car including the driver, it's €10 for the two of you)
Typical examples will be:
- I'm a full member & am bringing a mate - I'm paying €60 + €5 (me) & €5 (my mate) = €70
- I'm a non-member & am bringing a mate - I'm paying €80 + €5 (me) & €5 (my mate) = €90
Bring some extra cash for petrol & food if you're getting coffees, lunch etc. during the day & of course petrol if you're driving from afar. Have at least a half-tank left before you go on the rolling-road, there's a petrol station beside Westward so if you're stuck don't worry!
I'll be bringing along a cameraman mate of mine to take pics on the day but feel free to bring your own cameras & video cameras! Thanks in advance if you see this Dave! :notworthy Also, Muttly's the official video-capture person for the RR-day! :whip: :D
This is the first Official SXOC Irish meet & we'd like it to run off without a problem or without "undesirables" turning up & doing doughnuts etc. This is a meet, NOT a "cruise". We don't organise "cruises" in this club. People looking for the definition of a cruise need look no further than the Prime Time show from last week (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=265094). A meet is were people meet up & chat, take pics, meet new members, etc.
Sorry if that last part's a bit heavy folks but I can't emphasise this enough - if you're interested in going to that type of event there's other forums you can visit that do that.
Any questions or issues? Post it up here or drop me a PM! ;)
ONLY 1 WEEK TO GOOOOO!!!!!!! :sxoc:

I can help out, i don't know the area at all but I'll try me best!:p
I'll help aswell since I'll be the convoy leader from the south.
Thanks lads! Very much appreciated! Any takers for 1 last person? :)
JP
Right folks - time for a democratic vote for the food after the RR-day. I've narrowed down the options a bit cause, well... there aren't that many to begin with! :wack: I've asked about places locally & here's the main viable options:
1) Local italian restaurant A Casa Di Amici - have in the past catered
for some of our RR groups - you can all walk to the restaurant & they can
offer full Italian menu / pizza pasta/ steak & can sometimes offer special
fresh Fish & Chips on request (if they have advance notice they can get in same-day fresh fish & freshly-cut potatoes for proper chunky chips!) - have wine beer for passengers.
2) Another option Mother Hubbards - ( 1 mile from westward eng) between
Enfield & Clonard main Dublin - Galway road ( not motorway) truckers
stop over - plenty of car park space - you guys as a group would blend in
cause park area is very big. Food is basic but good - brekkie all day / selection of main courses roast & veg etc. / steak & chips/
burgers etc. Nice people/ good service/ atm & shop facilities.
3) Furey's Bar Moyvalley - from Enfield - exit west galway road -
(1mile from westwardeng) small pub / nice food / do not take bookings for
groups/ old style very relaxed pub / parking spaces depending on how busy they are.
4) In Clane Co. kildare - new hotel Westgrove Hotel & Conference Centre
Abbeylands Clane Co. Kildare
VOTING TIME!!! :D:D:D
On another note folks: in case some random muppets have been keeping an eye on this & decide they want to gate-crash the RR-day no-one'll be allowed near the premises unless I know about them, hence R360-200SX is being accomodated! If anyone else has mates with 200s that want to come to the meet, again, they need to let me know for this same reason.
No exceptions. You all know why. PMing the meet-only crowd now...
JP
I say option 2. Food is good and is reasonable aswell. Plus plenty of parking so need worries about parking cars down streets we don't know and hoping they'll be fine.

You could always just hop in someones car as a passanger, as Naas is on route for almost everyone.
Food on option 1 sounds nice (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/fitz1979/Emotions/hubba.gif pizza) But do like the sound of the parking at option 2 so I'm leaning towards that.
Option 2 4 myself
Regardless don't worry about the parking - the Italian's so close it's not worth turning the car on for so don't let that put you off..!

One person in particular that helped out from the outset & in fact if it weren't for him we wouldn't have had the meet at all is our man Kopijack.
