Finally got round to ringing Greenlight hoping for a reasonable drop in my insurance, to no avail.

Bloody useless in fact.

Me: "I'd like an insurance quote"

Broker: "Which car"

Me: "Nissan 200SX, I'm in the SXOC"

Broker: "OK. How old are you?"

Me: "31"

Broker: "Whats your lowest quote?"

Me: "£400 and something with my current insurers, cant remember exactly"

Broker: "Is that TPF&T?"

Me: "No, FC"

Broker: "We wont be able to beat that, our insurer has a minimum of £400 premium"

Me: "Oh, bye"

How crap is that? He didnt ask about any mods so I presume that £400 would be the minimum on a standard car, didnt ask about the 6 years NCB Ive got, didnt ask sod all.

Ahh well, looks like I'm staying with HIC then. Theyve been the cheapest for the last 3 years.

It seems to varrie so much on who you talk to.

I phoned up once.

Me: Im thinking of fitting a boost and oil temp gauge. I have already declared them on the proposal form
Him: OK just phone up when you do.

Next time
Me: I've fitted my boost and oil temp gauges that I declared on my proposal.
Him: Please confurm this in writting.
Me: Oh OK:confused:

And the next
Me: I've fitted a DV do I need to confirm in writting.
Him: Oh you have already declared it on your proposal so you dont have to do anything otherwise you would have had to send us a copy of the recipt.
Me: Errr OK

WFT.

Ring them up again, make sure you are talking to some one differnt and dont give them a target quote. You will probably get a compleatly different reply!

Are'nt Greenlight suposed to be the club sponsered insurers, don't seem very good if Steve's experience is anything to go by.

Yep me too.. currently paid £900 fully comp (25 6 years NC with Directline) just phoned up after a quote. Told the Guy on the other end I was a member of SXOC and gave him my details. He then asked what I was paying at the minute told him I'd been paying £900 FC and had been quoted £630 next time or just over 700 with protected NC. Then came the silence and he asked me if I had actually got the papers though from directline because that quote can't be right.  The best he could offer was £1800 no protected no-claims either.

I mean come on next time insurance comes round I’ll be 25 with 7 years no-claims, no points, no accidents.... which quote would you guys choose £700 with protected NC or £1800 without protected-NC. Hard choice

Humm they were good for me though. Tescos wanted 900ish for a stock car where as GreenLight wanted 681 with all futre mods I declared up to 60bhp above stock!

Both were for Full Comp Protected NCM. Errrr how odd!

Greenlight were the cheapest for me, but I went with HIC in the end (£70 more expensive but track days included!).

Not overly impressed with HIC so far though, it has to be said (inaccurate paperwork for the most part  )

Insurance is always going to be a case of horses for courses, club discount or not.

greenlight asked me one question "any NCD?" - me says no, they say cant do it and bye :(

HIC beat my best quote by £300 and was a better policy it has to be said.... but they dont do any instalment plans apart from over 5 months and i really aint got £520 to put down as a deposit!

I'm surprised that you lot didn't get any joy.

I renewed on Friday and they were fine. For the 2nd year.

Perhaps it's because my 200's a 2nd car or perhaps because I'm irresistable - I just don't know.;) :D

Direct line wanted to screw me up to £1400 and I've got 8 years NCD and without NCDP.

Greenlight were £780 fully comp everything declaired and Protected no claims....

21, 2 years no claims (was testing the theory that bmw's make good crumple zones for land rover owners....they do.....):D

S14a living in crawley (nice car, s#$%e place!)

tesco = £1656
direct line = ~£5000
NFU (insured the landy) = diddn't get past the laughing stage so i hung up.........
Greenlight = £1500. (with sxoc ship)

High, but not when you write off beemers.

Anyone got a number for anyone else that might be worth asking, as i am currently looking for insurance.

Seems strange that greenlight fluctuate so much, might try getting another quote from them, see if its cheaper, if not ask them to recall the last one!

Cheers, fingers crossed i will be leaving the world of landrovers and joining the 200 crew this weekend, and trying to avoid trees, lets see how long the NCB lasts..........

Greenlight, the story so far.. Due to having around 30 Modifications to the car, I E-Mailed them, they got back to me the same day asking for a few things that I'd missed, I replyed the day after, and they again got back to me the same day with my quote. The quote seemed a little on the high side, especially as I have to go and get a tracker fitted to be insured with them :(

I'll wait and see what other companies come up with, only prob I've found is that alot are not willing to let me send them my mod list via E-Mail or fax, and that means that I have to spend 30mins explaining the mods, only for them to say "Oh, u'v got a so and so, we can't insure u"   feckin h8 havin to do this:mad:

So Greenlight, I'm undecided as tho whether or not I'm going to go with them, but so far their customer services appear to sh!t on my current insurer (Adrian Flux:mad: ) from a great height.

I have just insured my 200 with Tesco TPFT with PNCD.

get this.... I went online and got a quote several days in a row for £509 then when I redid it the next day it was £634....
and about £850 comp! so I called them and they said it was nothing to do with them and some young ****ter on the other end start swindling me saying "oh yeah, well because of your age (I felt like I had just passed my test) minimum excess is £650!!! and then he said for that cheaper quote we give you excess is £800...   without
PNCD
so he came up with a figure of about £950 comp so I am thinking that this little spunker on the other end must be getting a packet out of this excess scam.

I ended up doing it online and excess was £150!!!

just bloody salesman on the phone lines.

Greenlight were rubbish too they could only get about £750 tpft without PNCD

what group are these in? Im nearly 25 with 6 years NCD

Just sorted my insurance on a '99 s14a, i'm 21, with 2yncb (c above)!,

Got it for 1400, last time they said 1564! Random? Anyway, they were still the lowest, and i saved a few bob, concidered ringing back again, but thought i would quit while i was ahead.

Roll on tomorrow, when i can actually drive the thing....(once i have bought it!)

P H A T T E H

I am with GL they seem ok. Not happy at the amber credit thing agreement and they are a little disorganised imo. But they where the cheapest for me. £940 FC I'm 25 with 5 years NCB.

Cheapest I could find was 1200 with tesco otherwise. I have to have a tracker as well. Get one tho you won't look back. I was lucky the previous owner fitted the mad version of the system which detects passing farts and stuff.

Piece of mind tho !

What I want to know is this ! how has made a claim from greenlight ? its all very well being the cheapest etc but I want to know if they cough up !

Give Liverpool and Victoria a go, a load of the skyline boys use them.
I got mine for £550 FC with all mods and a few planned mods declared (wheels, zorst, traction control, gauges, FMIC, BOV, ECU, injectors etc.).

Liverpool & Victoria Web Page (http://www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk/customer/protecting/motor/introduction.htm)

Cheers David, I saw that a fair few of the Skyline boys rate them highly, they are at the top of my list of 10 insurers to try, only thing is, finding the time to speak to them, the phone call takes a fair while, when having to spout of 30 mods, and tell em exactly what each 1 does

Cheers dude :)

Took me about 10 mins the guy seemed really clued up on mods, even asked me if the IC was a HKS as he'd heard it was a popular choice  :)

Greenlight were ok they quoted me £831 FC with 3YNCB. Which ain't too bad considering the car. I'm just waiting for my current insurers Adrian Flux to get back to me with a better quote as they always do.

Cheers Arry, saved me a phonecall.

And as u say mate, wouldnt be hard to have better cust service than AF, absolute cnuts!!!

I laughed very loudly at there £1200 re-quote, even louder when i realised they had a bit under the quote saying ring us if u get a better 1 and we will beat it:confused:

I think ill be trying one of these classic car type things, cos i now have no ncd anyway.

Greenlight are sh1te. I phoned them up to confirm the quote of £831 and asked if that was the agreed value of £30000 they said no they would only cover £12000 so I said I would get back to them. I them got back to Adrain Flux to try and match the quote and they wanted proof from GL of the £831 quote. So I phone them back to ask them to e-mail me or Flux with the quote and they told me they had withdrawn the quote and why would we want to help you out with insurance. In the end I end up paying £987 FC with 3YNCB, age 24, agreed value £25000 and 7500miles PA with Adrian Flux. Not that bad for the performance and amount of cover.

31-12-2002, 12:29
Greenlight, wouldn't even give me a quote, why? I don't know is the answer. 24, 6 years NCB the car only does 4000 miles a yeah. No crashs, No points I just don't get it, TESCOS have offered me £680 next time and thats Protected NCB for 25 years old 7NCB on my 99T s14a. Insurance just  's me!

Richie, can I ask who u speak to at Adrian Flux? as I'm currently insured with them, and have asked for an agreed value policy twice, both times they said they did'nt do agreed value on any policy except classic car
