yeah, you anticipate it.
AFAIK Drag racer predict the green light, hence the use of the cristmass tree. So its not realy a reaction time, although uts called that.
Yeah but here are some of the other drivers times (in the same class) ...
0.636
0.695
0.579
he was one hella fast dude :)

Depending on whether they use the sportsman or pro tree, the best rt you can get is 0.500 or 0.400 seconds without jumping the light. They time it from the previous orange light going on, rather than the green going on. Sportsman tree goes:
Orange 1 - 0.5s delay
Orange 2 - 0.5s delay
Orange 3 (rt starts counting from here) - 0.5s delay
Green for go.
Pro tree goes:
All oranges come on (rt starts counting from here) - 0.4s delay
Green for go.
At least, that's my understanding of it. So your guy either jumped the start horribly, or (more likely) they should have put 0.585s rather than the time from the green light.

What's the point of having it start from 0.5 ?

Reaction time is defined as the time between when a stimulus is detected and when a response starts. Scientific experiments suggest a human cannot react in less than 0.11 of a second.
In a number of sports events (e.g sprinting) if someone starts in less than 0.11 of a second after the stimulus it is declared as a false start and the competitor must have decided to go before hearing the gun/seeing the flag etc. So yes to anticipation but no to reacting that first, and isn't that what Jedi masters do?
LOL we'll get star wars into it somehow ;)
Thanks for that btw.
