Paintballing next year somewhere between February and March 2007 for us southwest lot (although anyone is welcome to attend) ???

Hopefully the poll has appeared above and you can vote on who think's this would be a good idea :)

Paintballing is awesome fun, and if you've never done it once the adrenaline gets going you'll love it :D It's only the shock of the first hit that really wakes you up. After that you kinda expect it so it doesn't hurt that much.

We would do it in Tavistock, Devon as that's the site I umpire for and is quite honestly and frankly probably the best in the south west. Safety is first priority and take it very seriously, whilst fun is a very close second.

This site also clean your masks unlike other sites where you have to clean them yourselves with some naff solution and the mask steam up. The masks and cleaning technique mean they rarely do. Also they have PROPER safety zones where you can watch the games from even after your out. Lastly, the site take pride in making sure you equipment works correctly, unlike other sites that fob you off with rubbish guns and rubbish paint. They use good stuff.

Any questions please write them in this thread or if you don't want to ask something as you think it's silly, just PM me :)

Realistically looking for at least 16 people, although they can handle upto about 60-70. By putting your name on the list, you ARE NOT obligated to come. I will put up another post later if we get a decent number, and will require £10 deposit from each person to secure a date suitable for everyone.

Matthew
p.s. Anyone wanting details of the site can find it at http://www.wargamecompany.co.uk

They also do laser games which means you can get dressed up in camo cream, and camoflague if you really felt like it ;) (Much more mil sim, and different to paintball, but also very very fun).

Running round in trees shooting people, getting shot, bruised, battered, wet and muddy? Hell yes! Sounds like a good day.

lol, yup precisely :D

Also, unless it is a force 10 gale, the game still goes ahead regardless. Rain does not stop play.

Ladies are also welcome. Without sounding strange, women do one of two things. 1) Spend the time squealing 2) Kick the guys butts!

It is very rare that someone says they haven't had a great time

Not a problem :) I will gather interest first, then decide on a date. To be honest, it doesn't really matter whether it's wet or sunny. Your running around, got the adrenaline flowing and shouting all manner of interesting speech and you don't really think about it. It after the depths of winter so won't be too bad and is pretty much all wooded so rain isn't as bad as it sounds. That's my honest opinion. (once again we can always change the date if that's the general consensus).

I can give advice on what to wear and what not to wear as well :)

As mentioned, it's in Devon but open to anyone in SXOC. You will prob be too tired at the end to bother with a show and shine so prob best to save cashon petrol and car share if coming any sort of distance.

Hi Matt. Never knew you were a ref there.

Funnily enough i'm going there next sunday in a group of 9. Sunday the 10th.

The setup at your particular place is second to none its gotta be said. Very high priority for safety, and the safe areas are ace meaning you can still watch once you're out. Been about 3-4 times now and its always an awesome day out. Plus good value for money considering you get a days play for about £40-50. The fact i managed to hit one of my best mates, an ex paratrooper, with a google shot last time i went made the day even better:D .

Would probably be up for it again come february/march time.

Um.. yeah.. funny you should mention that, as I've been asked to umpire for that day (which i didn't realise was the 10th, so I can't make it to the meet :() But I will be your umpire :D

Sure I can sort out a duel at the end :p :smash:

Yup the road on the site is a bit rough, but it sooo worth it. It just means going really slow (10-15mph). I take my car up there all the time and I'm on lowered 8/6 coil-overs.

Yeah it's 2 layers of mesh etc, and we take our safety (and punishment :whip:  seriously). A shot in the butt for taking your mask off outside the zone kinda makes you remember lol. Especially when it's right in front of your mates and they are all laughing.

Don't seem to get that much swearing unless someone didn't like being shot too close or after they had there hand up to indicate they were out.

(or when a friend of mine was trying to get the entire player base to shoot the umpires so after a few hours I saw him walking about 50 metres away. I only had 1 ball I had picked up off the floor, and made sure of a hit :D He had choice language for sure, but that was ok because he stopped egging the players to shoot us lol). The other players also made sure he got a firing squad at the end of the day as well lol.

And esp for Gary, once you've finished putting the balls in the gun, you can use the bag as padding to protect your nipples :wack:

lol.. i scrape my car trying to get into temporary residence, so at the moment it will stay exactly where it is (which is already about 40mm lower at a guess). I also need rear camber arms as i'm getting rear inner tyre wear pretty badly, so I don't want to make matters worse :p

You can forget that shoot at each other from 10metres at the end malarky on the path while everyone watches. I'll take my fair share of hits during the day no probs, but i'm not standing still with no cover taking 20plus shots even if i am firing back:D

Funny you should mention the getting shot for taking off your mask too. First time i went(about 10years ago now) they didnt have the safe areas so you walked out to the path but had to keep your mask on til the game had finished. Me being a pleb i slipped mine off to itch for a second and got caught. Cue the main guy(who had some laser sight on his gun at the time) in charge giving me 10seconds to run before shooting me in the ass despite my zig zag running, much to the amusement of everyone else:D . Lesson learned.

That's cool, it's not for everyone :)

If it is gonna be more than just South West peeps I may need a little assistance, but think I should be ok. I hadn't considered any subsidising of the event as I'm not a sxoc rep, but if enough people are interested (rather than just funding the Plymouth/Devon lads to go I mean) then that might be worthwhile.

I can say that it will require a £10 non-refundable deposit up front from each person to ensure that as many people as possible turn up. Please be aware that this is just a thread to get an idea of who will be interested not for taking bookings and deposits just yet.

Scott> We do the shoot out slightly differently now. 1 shot while the other guy protects vital areas, then the other guy shoots. Then 2 shots each , then 3 each etc. When we think it's enough it rapid fire free for all  Works out brilliantly compared to just letting them go for it straight away :)

Oh, and they do smoke grenades to :) (The site doesn't do paint grenades as one guy tried to save his mates and dived on a grenade and got flash burn on his nuts  , and if thrown into a confined space [bunker] it could deafen you, which is the main reason we don't use them.

Either way the shootout is something i prefer to spectate generally. I never have any paintballs left.

Apparently when my mate rang up to book, he was told you could get a weapon upgrade for an extra £5. AP5 or something or other. Worthwhile? I play about once every 2 years so am a complete novice, but just wondered if it was worth a £5 punt.

Going from some peeps responses (due to temperature), March or April may be better than February.

Leave this open for a little while longer then will try and get the best date for everyone :)

Never answered that sorry. I think your mate may have misunderstood as we only carry one type of gun. The A5 made by Tippmann. I think the upgrade for £5 extra may have been something to do with the paint (i.e. buy 500 balls and save £5 pounds.), which is why i think your friend misunderstood.

Incidenty, the a5 is a very good gun for site use, unlike the guns used by sites such as Deltra force, which use cheap and nasty "shiny" guns, not to mention the poor quality of the lenses and other equipment you get from other companies (normally down to bad maintenance).
