Wondering if anyone out there knows about these Italian motors?

Back in the 90's several Lancias and Fiats came with a 4 cylinder 1995cc turbo charged engine.

If it helps the cars were:

- Fiat Croma
- Fiat Coupe
- Lancia Delta
- Lancia Dedra
- Lancia Thema

The different cars also came with quite different power outputs (155bhp for the Croma to 200bhp for the Delta) and some were 8v and some 16v (perhaps same block with different heads?)

Logic would suggest these were all the same lump in different states of tune.....but we are talking about Italians here  ;)

Have been looking at various websites for the answer to this without much luck (although did find a mental 200+bhp Fiat Uno and 300bhp X19  ) so any info will be much appreciated :)

I'm not too sure, I do know that the Fiat Tipo comes with the Lancia Delta engine (non-turbo 2L 16v) and produces 150bhp. Also I thought there was a Delta that produced more than 200bhp standard (220bhp maybe?). They're supposed to be great engines but I'd imagine the usual italian reliability could be a problem?

Sorry I couldn't be any help.

Dunc.

Think you're right actually mate, and this could well be the same 1995cc unit. One site I found reckoned the Croma could be tuned to 280bhp so 220 in the Delta Integrale sounds believable :) I think the Fiat Coupe was also 220bhp ish actually :o

They probably are all basically the same block, I just can't find anything that confirms that

different engine's I think, the Croma block was a 2ltr 8 V block, with a Ferrari injection system on it, maybe same as the lancia Thema, the Coupe with 220bhp is a 5 pot, the Coupe 16v T is the same as the lancia Intergrale.

I don't know anything about the fiats but i know a couple of things about the delta's
there are a couple off versions..
you have the 2.0 16v turbo and the older 8v turbo's (hf integrale)
i can't remember what the bhp's are i think approx 160bhp(8v) and 180bhp for the 16v.
BUT there are also EVO versions and they are really fast!!!
They way only 850kg:eek:
The fastest one is the evo3 16v 210bhp 0-100kmph in 5.6sec  ( i believe its from 1993)
The evo2 8v has 200bhp 0-100 in 5.9sec..
There are also other versions like 1.9td 1.4 1.6 1.6turbo etc
I know you can see the name fiat on a lot off parts from the delta
I don't know anything about the newer delta's though!!

I could be wrong but my previous car was an alfaromeo and i went to alot of italian auto shows and meetings.
I also had a 1989 delta 1.6i.e
But i must say im glad that i now own a 200sx:D :D

With regards to Integrales, I think the early 8v engines produced around 180bhp. The 16v Evo I put out 200 and the Evo II 220? My mate has a gorgeous Evo I which he picking up from Auto Integrale near Reading tomorrow. He has had it chipped and a large bore centre section put in the exhaust. He has been told to expect 260-270 atf! It also has water injection plumbed in as standard!!!:D

The Red Turbo'd X19 looks real fun, but not sure if his numbers add up he says.

"when the boost is turned up to 13psi & 172hp at the rear wheels! That means around a massive 280 to 300 Horsepower at the engine".

So he's telling us he loses 100-120hp throught the transmission, surley not as it's almost direct drive, prolly more like 30-40hp losses max would be more acurate to give a figure 200-210 but still thats alot in that little chassis must be a hoot.

Fiat Coupé 20V Turbo is my prime evil at the moment. Stock they put out 220bhp and ~230lbft but similar to a 2***** you can get 280bhp with chip, filter, exhaust and intercooler.

Luckily the car's about 1-200 kg heavier but the 20V is 5banger and does 0-60 in ~6s (maybe abit more).

So whatch out which version of the coupe you wanna race non turbos aren't a prob but both the 16v and especialy the 20V will eat you if your cars stock powered.

i now have in my possession a Lancia Delta HF Turbo made in the good ol year of 1989 :)

Its a bit of a state, bodywork is solid but in need of TLC, but the engine is sound enough and it seems to go well :)

Gonna just use it as a project - trying not to spend silly money - and get it back on the road in a reasonable condition rather than the tatty mess that it is now.

Anyone know any lancia breakers? need a few bits :)
