white fibreglass top coat

Does anyone know where I can get a small amount of white fibreglass top coat resin? My gf has dropped something in my bath and theres a chunk about the size of my smallest finger nail missing...

Any ideas? I've tried a few DIY places and Halfords with out luck :(

You mean the gel coat top layer....

Any fibre glass place will be able to sort you with this, but you need the die too!

this is already white, you can get clear too, I'm not 100% sure if you need hardener too, probably.

The Gel usually comes either clear, black or white, and requires the hardening agent (catalist) (and no, viagra wont do this job ;) )

Its fairly cheap, as is the hardener, if you only require a small amount, maybe try a B&Q or similar sort of hardware shop :)

you'll need clear hardener, most stuff like isopon etc come with red, black or yellow hardener which is useless.

I saw a prog on how to make naplam, or similar, was really really easy.
Something like put foam, like the stuff you get in cushions and put it into petrol so it breaks down and forms a gel. Job done. :)

Napalm hmmm, did this when I was at school for Chemistry project ;)

Lets see if I can remember.

The original napalm was, in fact, petrol gelled with soap.

Napalm is made by gelling petrol with the Aluminium salts of fatty acids.

You require Petrol, Naphthenic Acid, Palmitic Acid. This is used to Gell Petrol. Hence the name NAPALM.

Most pyrotechnics in films use a form of napalm, because it causes the fuel to burn slower and the resulting fireball last longer.

I have been told that apparently ordinary petrol doesn't gel well with polystyrene, but Mothballs is sometime a good additive, as is Ammonium Nitrate Fertilizer to Diesel. :eek:
