Just to folllow on from the fire fighters thread.

Maybe if the Goverment stopped putting up stupid speed cameras and traffic calming measures every bl**dy where they could afford a 40% pay rise and for the nurses as well etcc..
As they would have spare cash to pay them what they deserve.

Comments please?

Don't be stupid. ;) The Govt says that these cameras will promote road safety, meaning less accidents, meaning they don't have to employ as many Fire Fighters......

Or these Speed Cameras create revenue that can be put back into Road Safety, by giving the Fire Fighters etc a pay rise.

Which one is more likely?

Am I being cynical?

Simple. Put up more cameras and use the funds generated from them to improve all emergency services pay.

Funnily enough me too; right then we've got 8 days to set fire to them and as they are unimportant (WRT saving life) they will be left to burn. :)

But I heard they are about £30k each? Where the fook do they buy them from ? Nissan?
Which means that shold we destroy them we'll ultimately pay for them anyway in tax and insurance.

LOL Right when is this ritual burning of all speed cameras taking place. I'd burn them all while we've got the chance!!!

And can somebody lend me a JCB to dig up all the speed humps around my way???

Somebody need to tell the goverment these "safety cameras" and "traffic calming" amazingly dont stop stupid pedestians walking out in front of your car!!!!!!I know I've tried it!! I stood by a speed camera and walked into the road every time!!! they just dont work!!

Even at 30mph your bound to get pretty injured shouldnt the aim to be to stop this???

Surely to reduce road accidents they should put up pedestrian barriers and give them dedicated crossings???

Are they all thick??? I think so!!!

Too right except theyd probably volt the barriers. There are some pretty stupid people around here who prefer to run accross a busy junction where 4 roads meet rather than walk 30 feet up the road to a zebra crossing:rolleyes:  . And something else that annoyes me is that they say theyre bringing in all this charging in to cut conjestion and help the enviroment, then controll the lights to cause conjestion and build speed bumps and mini rounabouts all over, making cars slow down and speed up again which is **** for the enviroment. Plain and simple they just want the money.

As you've said, it would be far easier to introduce a law that outlawed Jay walking.

Can't believe it, thought the local council in canterbury were finally getting round to fixing a bit of road near me. The surface is so lame you can't use the brakes in the wet cos the car is being thrown about too much.

So I saw the road work signs...all they've bloody done is put in those small square speed humps in each lane and NARROWED the road in places! For fecks sake its already narrow enough with all the parked cars, let alone the buses that refuse to give way and aim for your side mirrors... AAGGHHHH!

Would have been more worthwhile improving the road surface so that people can stop properly. No one seems to slow for these small humps as you can fit the humps between your wheels.

If they are necessary, why didn't they put them 400 yards round the corner where the school is??

W@nkers.

The road surface stuff is good, but everything else is crap.
I think pedestrians should have airbags, that way we don't have to slow down

DanS14, look out for a grey s13 going sideways in canterbury, i live/work/uni there

It'll be the one imbedded in a lamp post and should be there within the mouth, then i can pass yeagers engine onto the next lucky customer

Actually i might as well aim for that speed camera on wincheap roundabout, get it over and done with while at the same time doing everyone a favour.

Who needs yeagers working s13 engine :)

I used to live in Faversham and work in canterbury at the swimming pool and you are right some of the roads there are UTTERLY dangerous, but then there is always the thanet way for a bit of high speed stuff!

Isn't there some dodgey group called M.A.D. who do just that? (ie burn down GATSOs and the like?)

I saw an article on it in a mag and they even have a spokesman:eek:

Seems a bit extreme to me, but surely the Gov't can't keep screwing us for any more money?

B*ST*RDS!!!!

I'm voting for the RAC or AA next time, at least they've got my interests at heart!!!
