Anyone know a decent hotel in/around Swansea? Got friends coming down for a hoon out with the Pistonhead guys on Sun 26th Nov, and they are thinking of coming down a couple of days earlier and staying in the Swansea area to see the xmas market, have a pootle around Gower area etc.

I don't know Swansea at all well and was wondering if you guys knew any decent hotels. They would be looking to spend around £100 a night.

what about things like travel lodge or Hol Inn express.
Or are they looking for more comfort etc?
Marriott?
Dragon Hotel?

They are not usually averse to staying in a Travel Inn type place but looking for a bit more luxury on this occasion.

I suggested the Vale Hotel in Hensol, but they are ideally looking for something closer to Swansea.

Hi I'd recomend the Marriot or the Dragon. They are both relatively expensive but within the budget you stated and it's always worth a little bit extra.
I didn't know the Pistonheaders met up round this area being new to Swansea myself. I've been a Pistonheader for years. Drop me a mail I'd like to join you if poss explore the area a bit. Cheers.

One issue i would have with all the places mentioned is secure parking or lack of it!

Central Swansea is a nightmare especially this close to Christmas!

The travel inn at the bottom of the wind st has locked car parking after 10:00 and 24hr security guard (also the hotel has a bar) and is smack bang on one of the main roads to the Gower not to mention the fact its right in the middle of the bars clubs etc!

Morgans, Dragon, Marriot and Dolphin have no secure parking

If you want something like the Marriot but safer then look outside of Swansea or in the Gower  Fairy hill is a fantastic hotel and the restaurant is one of the best I have been to (but as mentioned its dammed expensive)

Yeah there is a small CCTV covered car park to the rear.

But when that is full you are off to the NCP across the road (not good)

Hi Jim

The Pistonhead peeps tend to meet at Cardiff Gate services as it is close to the Brecon route. They are a friendly bunch and very welcoming to newcomers. I'll send you a pm with more details :)
