View Full Version : Graduate IT jobs for 2003?
Anybody here work for companies that are offering graduate IT positions for summer 2003? I'm in my final year looking to apply to companies...
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks - Ant

lol...I just want to try and get a job sorted before I leave...I'm filling one in for Oracle as I speak.
Can you let us know where abouts in the UK you are ?
Or where you'd work ?
Tough times m8.
Hays IT recruited my last 2 lads and our account manager was saying how bad it was atm.
At the peak of things he had 20 odd cases on the go at any one time. Now he is lucky to have 4. His bonuses dried RIGHT up and that makes up a huge proportion of his wage.
Basically market is overflowing with people who got the sack :(
Those that are being recruited seem to be those with proven skills and experience. (Despite the IT collapse things still break). But developer jobs are thin atm.
G luck !
(Try Hays-IT they looked after all my lads (and me too)) very well !
Yeh I've heard about the dry up of IT-based jobs. I'm from Stoke-on-Trent but wanna move away so a move to anywhere in the country is fine by me! :)

good luck mate. I'm currently searching, and saying jobs are a bit thin on the ground is a understatement!

Go to www.pilkington.com and have a look under graduate opportunities. There are about 80 people in our IT dept just at the Head Office site and we always take a few graduates on in the Helpdesk each year.
Pay and conditions are quite good as well.
There are opportunities in St. Helens and possibly Birmingham.

I worked for ICL in Stevenage in 1999, not the worst company ever... But close!
I used to work for ICL in stevenage!

I used to work for the GRE/AXA service desk in STE09 just off the Six Hills Roundabout.
Where were you? Ste04?
Yep, STE04 I think? On Gunnelswood road.
Only did a few months there after finishing uni.
Oh and ICL is no more - taken over by Fujitsu.
I'm particular interested into going the DBA/SQL route...any suggestions?
LOL @ the ICL crew
me too :D:D
Worked for the project team for 98/99 doing amongst other things the GRE W2K upgrades and oversaw the AXA NT4 rollout :)
small world eh?
I've been contracting for 3 years now and am just about to sack it in for a permanent job.
Ant, just check out jobserve and get yourself a good CV together.

Get work wherever you can. The current climate is a bit like when I started work in 94 - it's not very good but it'll probably get better and experience is very important. Even at ICL :)
I hated the first company I worked for but was grateful for the springboard nevertheless.
